Jordan (/ˈdʒɔːrdən/; Arabic: الْأُرْدُنّ Al-‘Urdunn [al.ʔur.dunn]), officially The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Arabic: المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية Al-Mamlakah Al-Urdunnīyah Al-Hāshimīyah), is a sovereign Arab state in western Asia, on the East Bank of the Jordan River. Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north, Israel and Palestine to the west. The Dead Sea lies along its western borders and the country has a small shoreline on the Red Sea in its extreme south-west, but is otherwise landlocked. Jordan is strategically located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe. The capital, Amman, is Jordan's most populous city as well as the country's economic, political and cultural centre.

Welcome to your home in the desert! Famous for it's towering mountains and pink sands, Wadi Rum is a desert unlike any other in the world. It's home to a range of wildlife, historic sites, hiking and climbing trails, and of course, the local Bedouin who until recently led nomadic lives in the desert with their goat herds. The Bedouins are famous for their hospitality, resourcefulness and connection with the natural world. You can choose to stay in a traditional goat-hair tent, or sleep out under the starry night sky in the desert. There are many ways to explore Wadi Rum, including jeep, camel and hiking tours. We're very excited to show you around this beautiful desert that we're lucky enough to call home!

Dear Jennifer, Again I apologise for bad time you experienced in your trek, I have nothing to say, but read the reviews of the other guests in your same group, and other groups this year. Caring beyond the call of duty. Experience and knowledge. Murad looked after us from the moment we met at the airport until we departed from Jordan. He even lent his walking boots to a group member who turned up ill prepared. As a consummate professional he took his responsibilities seriously but he was able to make the trek great fun. Murad was great. There was some difficulty with two members of a large and varied group who were struggling somewhat with the hike (both the tempo and the terrain). We also had several very strong and aggressive hikers, who were continually hiking ahead of the group, and were anxious to increase the pace. Despite briefly showing his frustration, he quickly regained his usual patience and diplomacy, apologized for any frustrations, found a reasonable solution, and the group continued with, in my experience, a very high level of camaraderie and enjoyment among the group. He deserves kudos for his handling. He also brought knowledge and enthusiasm to his coverage of the history, culture and geology of the fascinating country through we were hiking. His input very much increased my enjoyment of the trip. He combined the technical demands of a great hiking guide with a warmth, and diplomacy, that went way beyond the call of duty - as evidenced by his handling of some of the challenges that go with leading a large, diverse group over varied and sometimes challenging terrain. A great guide Murad was an excellent leader -- personable, knowledgeable, responsible, a pleasure to hike with. He was confronted with three very challenging group members. One consistently insisted on hiking ahead of the group, even though asked not to do so. Another clearly was unprepared for the grade of the hike, so the group had to stop often for her to catch up. Another (not a very strong hiker, herself) insisted on taking care of the weak hiker by hiking alongside her and coaching her every step. That hiker insisted that the difficulty of the hike was not clearly indicated on KE's web site and that there was no list obvious on the web site of clothing/other items needed for the hike. (She said she phoned KE and was told a sleeping bag was not needed, so did not bring one. Murad supplied her and her travelling companion with sleeping bags.) She also said that Murad did not speak properly with her (not so!). Murad could not have done a better job handling the difficult situation that these three hikers provided. He did so in a way that did not prevent the rest of the group from having a wonderful holiday. He deserves kudos for that. I would travel with hime again any time. He had all the qualities a leader should have - patience, enthusiasm, knowledge, a great sense of humour. He also had a great sense of responsibility, and rather than taking risks, he had us evacuated off the mountain in the middle of a wind storm Great trip. Our guide Murad and his crew will take good care of you and treat you like family. The food, fellow hikers and the sights were all out standing. This is the way to experience Jordan and to see Petra. Wear good boots the ground is very rocky. The trekking in jordan was excellent. Our guide Murad was passionate about his country and very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. The food could not have been any better. Petra was amazing and our photographs cannot do it justice Guide Murad the best. Food best ever on a trek. Scenery amazing. My other trekkers a great bunch. I need to go back. Our guide Murat was first-class. He was very well-informed, funny, caring, alert to everyone's needs but perhaps best of all really meant it when he welcomed us into our new family and said we should consider Jordan our second home. Somehow he managed to make all 16 of us feel happy, as well as his 4 helpers and Happy the donkey. We all got on and all felt this was such a brilliant trip...'Best ever'. The scenery was jaw-dropping, the food lovely, the organisation superb etc etc. Just remember to heed Murat when he warns you of slippy slopes at the beginning. Kind regards Murad Arslan

ocated near the Dead Sea, this extraordinary Wadi is famous for its hanging rock at the beginning of the trail and the magnificent and long narrow passage through the rock formation (also called a Siq). The wadi is also known as "Water Petra" or Wadi Hudeira by the local Bedouins. It is an easy walk into a truly spectacular Siq with clear flowing water and massive walls that obscure the sky.
