The Saxum Visitor Center helps pilgrims to deepen their knowledge of the Holy Land through different multimedia resources in order to enrich each person’s Holy Land experience.
My favorite parts of the Visitor Center were: 1) the time sequence, interactive 3-D images of the evolution of the temple and 2) the raised relief map of the temple area depicting, in sequence, Jesus' route through the city from the time of His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, taking Him to Caiaphas, to Herod, etc., and finally to Calvary, and 3) cross section and explanation of the site of the Holy Sepulcher. Very small but nice gift shop (cash only). Highly recommend the book, "In the Footprints of our Faith." Outstanding combination of photos, maps, and explanations of nearly every major pilgrimage site. Used by tour guides as a reference book ($35). As an extra, from the parking lot you can see the nearby statue of Our Lady of the Arc of the Covenant silhouetted against the sky on a nearby ridge, looking toward Jerusalem, on the site (now church) where the Arc was secured for 20 years prior to King David bringing it to Jerusalem. Saxum is culminating stop on tours offerd by Mater Dei Tours. Saxum.org

Rediscover Biblical Jerusalem. The story of the City of David began over 3,000 years ago,Today, the story of the City of David continues. Deep underground, the City of David is revealing some of the most exciting archeological finds of the ancient world. While above ground, the city is a vibrant center of activity with a visitor's center that welcomes visitors for an exciting tour to the site where much of the Bible was written.
The City of David is an archaeological site which you can visit and see remains from settlement during the Canaanite period. At the site you can go underground to Hezekiah’s Tunnel (maybe not if you’re claustrophobic), Warren’s Shaft, the Pool of Siloam). We’d recommend a guided tour so you know what you’re looking at. There’s lots of walking and stairs and hills so you need to be physically fit. Enter via the Dung Gate and head to the visitor centre. There are bathrooms, kiosk and a shop.

A tour of the National Library is a rare glimpse into realms of the past, some of them fading, and realms of the present as they take shape. The National Library houses unique collections of ancient maps and rare books, an abundance of original music recordings, ephemera and advertisements from various periods in the history of Palestine-Israel, a comprehensive press archive, and more. Library tours highlight collection items that the ordinary reader is unlikely to encounter.

A visit to Yvel was Part of an itinerary put together by Israel Unlimited but little did we know we weren’t just going jewelry shopping. We had the extreme pleasure of learning about Yvels history, how they curate their pearls and design their jewelry. The most amazing part of our visit was learning about how much they help Ethiopian immigrants by putting them through a design and jewelry school to teach them skills they need to be successful and support their families. It’s an amazing thing. I was happy to be able to purchase a gorgeous initial necklace and earring from the Biwa Collection and a mother of pearl double sided clover, as well as a pair of earring from the Megemeria collection. The staff is also absolutely wonderful. I applaud Yvel for what they do to help others and I wish companies in the US and around the world did the same. So go visit Yvel when you’re in Jerusalem, learn about their history and goals, and do a little shopping for some gorgeous jewelry that is sure to become family heirlooms. Note- I visited with my parents but I’m 34 so we didn’t fall into the “family children” or “family teenager” categories on TripAdvisor. I entered solo.

The Jerusalem Municipality Visitor Center offers tours and related-activities on a wide range of topics and welcomes groups of all backgrounds to experience the old and the new of our eternal city. During the tour, preserving the past and developing the future, we explore historical buildings in Safra Square and are amazed how they’ve been adapted for contemporary use. We descend to “ground zero
