In the historic Lutz Mansion, an Arts and Crafts style residence, the Stutsman County Memorial Museum houses a wealth of antiques and other memorabilia that celebrate the lifestyles of the area's early settlers. Admission is free and the site is open from late May through the end of September. The museum also hosts front porch chats throughout the summer season.

Throughout the summer and fall, gardening activities and youth programming make the park a beehive of activity. The Hansen Arts Building, our adjacent building, houses the ceramics studio and adult classroom space.The Arts Center is a spot for local artists to share their talents as well as a performance and exhibition location for artists from around the world to show their talents to the Jamestown community.Jamestown Fine Arts Association also operates the Ila & J.A. Kirkpatrick Gallery at the Frontier Village in Jamestown. The gallery is open each summer and is operated by the Artisans, a volunteer artist group.

Informative, worthwhile and quick stop right off 94 that helps educate the traveler about the American bison and Native Americans and the effort to rehabilitate what was done in the past. Thoughtful museum that is well-curated and not touristy. Huge bison statue and small bison herd are great to see!

We came for the worlds largest buffalo and came away impressed with all of the history at this stop. While the buffalo is huge there are old school houses, church, jail, printing press, library and more buildings to see in great detail what life would have been like on the open frontier. There is also a herd of buffalo near the buffalo museum. Easy stop just off of interstate 80 to break up the drive in or through North Dakota.
