The Four Candles is Britain's Smallest Brewpub (not the smallest pub, not the smallest brewery - just the smallest proper micropub that is also a proper microbrewery. We sell an ever-changing selection of our own beers as well as a small range of Biddenden wines, ciders and fruit juices. Ashmore cheese, Kentish pork pies and Black Country pork scratchings. Or a cup of tea or coffee if you insist. No bar, no till, no TV, no piped music. And no lager (as we're not able to make that). Just conversation and good company. We're open every evening and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
I was recommended to visit this bar and it did not disappoint. On my own but was made to feel very welcome by the girl serving the drinks and indeed the customers who were in the bar. Great beer

We are a micro pub selling real ales which are sourced both locally and from various locations from around the uk. All of our ales are kept on stillage in a temperature controlled room and are gravity dispensed. We also sell still cider and wines.Unfortunately we do not sell spirits, alco pops or lager. We have no TV,music, fruit machines or any other distractions. We do however have an upside down corgi on the ceiling in the bar area!

Since opening in Oct 2013 Ramsgate Music Hall has built a solid reputation as one of the UK's finest small venues winning the NME's Britain's Best Small Venue award in 2015. In its short history the venue has hosted a diverse range of acts including Neneh Cherry, Sleaford Mods, Jungle Brothers, Beak and many, many more.
Well ! What a pleasant and unexpected surprise this music venue is and it,s on my doorstep in Thanet too ! We booked tickets in advance at a bargain £7 each to see a good band that I,ve recently discovered called Port Erin who I saw on their website were playing at this venue . If you like Radiohead/ XTC / Talking Heads then you will like this band . Most of their tracks are over 5 minutes long and this 3 piece band played very well on the night . As this venue is small and intimate , I was able to talk with Rueben - Singer/ Guitarist with Port Erin , and we had a great chat afterwards and I think that he appreciated my positive comments about his bands music incl their lastest album . You can't do this at some bigger venues ! The staff ( particularly the barmaid ) were very friendly and chatty . The bar is upstairs from the stage and is very quirky but in an interesting pleasant way Downstairs is where the stage is and the capacity for this venue I understand is approx 130 people . There is what looks like a permanent sound mixing desk and the sound was good on the night if not just slightly too loud . Another feature that I like about this venue is that you can watch what's happening on the stage on a screen upstairs in the bar area . I liked that original idea which I,ve not seen before elsewhere . There also was a projection show going on behind the band as they were playing which you probably would,nt get at other small music venues of this size . This definitely enhanced the enjoyment of Port Erin's performance in my opinion . I noticed that this venue proudly boasts that it has won the best smallest music venue in Britain award ! Well done to the owners who have obviously invested their time and money into this excellent music venue and better still that it is in Thanet too ! So , come music lovers of all types of music and get yourself down to this great little Music venue . I look forward to returning again for a gig very soon !

Situated in a former Hair Salon in Minster High Street near Ramsgate in Thanet, we are a an Ale & Cider House and we look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy our beers, ciders, wines, atmosphere, conversation and laughs.
I love it here. It’s like popping over to a friend’s for a pint and a catch up. Because it’s so small and cosy there’s none of the normal settle in to a quiet corner/booth in a big pub and keeping yourself to yourself. You end up talking to everyone and meeting new people each time you go. Gary and Julie make everyone welcome and the drinks are cheap. A good mix of real ales and ciders which is cycled regularly.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I can take my dog in which is really great for a stop for me and the dog on our walk. The ales are lovely and have new ones in all the time. Would definitely recommend

We visited over a year ago for the first time. We return just after lockdown to find this bar still alive and kicking. Great beer served perfectly, great banter with friendly locals - all served by a great host. All the social distancing and covid secure arrangements you could want. Has a great view of the beach, we will be back

Houdini’s Magic Bar a place out of the ordinary! A little bit quirky and a lot Magical! Every evening you are invited to join us, settle in and experience Miracles of Magic whilst enjoying great drinks and great company. See shows, close up and exclusive performances by our Resident Magician’s, many of whom are members of the prestigious Black Card Club and Magic Circle. Houdini’s Magic Bar first opened in the Dickensian town of Broadstairs in 2016. It is a warm and welcoming place to come and enjoy fine refreshments and is home to some of Kent’s finest Magicians. We are proud to have won Newcomer of the Year 2017 in the Kent Life Food and Drink Awards. Houdini’s now has a second bar in Canterbury, both Magic Bars celebrate all that is Magic and the interiors lend themselves to a whole manner of Magic curiosities. All of customers are welcomed to while away the hours with us in a bar like no other! Come in for a catch up, play a board game or two and enjoy live Magic.
Visited Houdini’s in the evening at the beginning of December. Broadstairs was fairly quiet when we went for a meal and had a look at a few other bars along the high street. But Houdini’s had a fair few people in and a great atmosphere. So we’re pleased that we decided to spend our evening here. There was a fantastic magician walking around doing card tricks and he then later done a show. Through the night there was a compere doing competitions and telling jokes. The bar staff was also very friendly and told us the history about the cranberry gin we were drinking. Me and my partner like to look for niche and different bars. And we will definitely be returning to Houdini’s.
