The landscape is dramatic—even a bit moody, with the Cuillin Range in the background—but outdoorsy kids will have a blast on the Isle of Skye. Plenty of water sports are available, and you’ll also find great hiking and even pony rides. Portree, the largest town, makes a great base for exploring this striking island.

Wonderful natural light gallery and gift shop representing Isle of Skye artists and maker. The gallery also houses boutique, independent label clothing, Harris tweed, silver jewellery and much more. It is above The Isle of Skye Baking Company, so it is recommended to visit for coffee and cake, a light lunch and some deli shopping combined with allowing time for Skyeworks Gallery.

When many places were closed, we were delighted to find this marvellous gallery and coffee shop open so far up the island. They open all year. The owners are a delightful, friendly couple who took time to chat to all their customers and share their knowledge of the area. We had a great coffee and some lovely cake. The gallery and gift shop has some really nice items for sale at reasonable prices and the artwork shows some fantastic scenes of Skye along with some great abstract work. It's a stop we will now make any time we are on holiday in this area of Skye. Well worth a visit.

I enjoyed seeing all of the pottery in this small shop by different potters. One potter was even working in clay in one area of the shop while we were there. I ended up purchasing a beautiful cup of sky blue and beige which will always make me think of the beautiful sea, sky and shore that is the Isle of Skye.
