We had a wonderful week in the Gîte de la Poterie. This was exactly what we were looking for: a place with character, calm and relaxing, with fantastic hosts. The kids loved the swimming pool, we loved the evenings in the garden with the bats at the sunset and fruits to grab from the trees :) The Abbaye itself is a magical place, full of history, and so relaxing. The hosts are amazingly nice (and knowledgeable) people and very caring. It is well located within 30mns to 1h to lots of nice places to visit. This was for us a last minute booking due to COVID situation and we felt blessed to have found this gem. The suprise tour in 1950s Jeep was the highlight for our kids :) Amazing time.

Saint Cosme Priory was, according to the canons of the 12th century, "a heaven on earth that eased the journey to the real heaven," less than an hour's walk from Tours. The long history of this monastery, now property of Indre-et-Loire Departmental Council, came to fame after major archaeological excavations carried out in 2009-2010. It is better known as the “Demeure de Ronsard” (home of Ronsard), who was the prior here from 1565 to 1585. His home has been carefully preserved. The poet eventually died here and was buried in the old church. New gardens and an interactive scenic tour were recently set up to restore its historical, spiritual and poetic atmosphere.
