Briceland Vineyards

Fall and Winter, we are open by appointment only for tasting, tours and purchasing. Same day/short notice appointments are sometimes OK. We produce distinctive, site-driven small batch wines made mainly from grapes grown in small plots in Southern Humboldt. Our wines receive recognition in well known wine competitions including the CA State Fair and the Orange County Fair, along with top reviews from wine writers. We are best known for our Single Vineyard Humboldt Pinot Noirs and our Brut Sparkling wines, while our other reds and whites are distinctive and well received. Our Winery is located about 75 yards up Ferren Road, off of Briceland/Shelter Cove Road, 1/4 mile before Briceland 5.5 miles West from Redway on the way towards Shelter Cove.

Learning the variables in winemaking, from grapes being picked early (which is not always bad), to ageing and alcohol content all affecting the taste of the varietal was extraordinary. This gentleman really knows his craft. His willingness to share the intimate details from soil to soft palate are amazing. The wines quite simply are delicious. All of this delivered in a humble, unpretentious manner with his lovely wife made our late afternoon superb. We hope to return with our adult children to share and learn more.

Moonstone Crossing Winery Tasting Room

Lovely Sharon was such a warm and gracious hostess! As she introduced us to Moonstone's fabulous wines she also told us about their varietals and blends, and how they came to be named. We loved: Nero D’avola, Midnight Caress, Old Vine Zinfandel, Obsidian, and Souzao Port. The tasting room was so welcoming because of Sharon's hospitability and it was also beautifully decorated with local artists' creations and photography.

Old Growth Cellars

Old Growth Cellars is a boutique winery in South Eureka. Right off Highway 101, our working winery features a tasting room and an inside peek into our winemaking process. Try some of our handcrafted wine in a laidback atmosphere, three tastings for $10. Our tasting room is open from 1-7 PM Thursday through Sunday, and our large parking lot can easily accommodate RVs. Stop by any time!

Old Growth Winery has about 10 wines to taste, all of them really good! You pay $10 for three pours. They do not have food but you are welcome to call in a pizza or bring in a snack. The Tasting Room is beautifully crafted from old Growth Redwood by one of the owners. The Winery just started as an event center too. Wonderful addition to Eureka! I think the hours are Thursday through Sunday 1-7. Great place just to have a glass of wine too! My favorite is their Petite Syrah!
