Horten (help·info) is a town and municipality in Vestfold county, Norway—located along the Oslofjord. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Horten. The municipality also includes the town of Åsgårdstrand and the villages of Borre, Skoppum, and Nykirke.

Pilgrims from all the Nordic countries came here. The Reformation in 1536 put an official stop to the catholic pilgrimages to Lovoya but people continued to come to the well and church for years on. The church was in ruins for many years until preservation and restoration was initiated in 1882 and it was reopened in 1950.
A very beautiful stone chapel with great history. If you ever get a chance to go inside - take it. It is very beautiful. The Olavsbrønnen (Olavs Well) Outside is a place people throw a coin in for good luck

The church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2005. It was taken over by the town of Horten in 1962. The painter Harald Kihle painted the interior of the church in 1925. Architect: L. H. Grosch.
Bishop Hakon Andersen laid the foundation stone in May 1988 and the church, made in concrete, was finished in 1989. Architects: Corneliussen, Elvestad and Oset.
According to local history, many Methodists migrated to Horten in 1864. The Horten Methodist congregation was founded by Pastor Martin Hansen on 29 July 1869 and the Methodist church was built in 1875, on land owned by market gardener Arnt Ludvig Amundsen.
