Highly, highly recommend Yucatan Excursions ! Polo is the best tour guide and I plan to call him when we are back in Yucatan. These tours were definitely the highlights of our trip!! Polo speaks excellent English, and is a wealth of information about the region. We planned two tours with Polo, and here is a summary of each.... Tour 1: We arranged to visit Uxmal, Chocolate museum, Hacienda and Cenote. We departed early morning for Uxmal and had an early tour which was wonderful— cool weather and pretty much had the ruins to ourselves. We debated about going to the chocolate museum and thankfully went. Again, we started early and had much of the park to ourselves- we fed the spider monkeys, had a mayan ritual performance that was dedicated to us, saw beautiful jaguars, and bad a traditional chocolate tasting- Polo knew the ins and outs. We then went to the Hacienda and enjoyed a private lunch. After lunch, Polo arranged for a tour of the hacienda and accompanied us for translation. We concluded our day with a trip to a off the beaten path cenote. Polo also arranged to take pictures of us in the centoe, and introduced us to local Mexican refreshments. We had an amazing day - thank you, Polo. Tour 2 - We had such a nice time with Polo that we asked if he would be open to taking us from Merida to Tulum with sightseeing along the way. We were thrilled that he agreed, and our day included: visit to the yellow city of Ixmal (including visit for breakfast at local market and visit to local ruins), El Bakal ruins, tequila tasting and tour in Mayapan, private lunch and tour around Valladolid, and then a cool off at an incredible cenote off the beaten path. Polo was very flexible, trustworthy and accommodating. We had such a great time on both tours with Polo, and I don’t think we would have had such a great time without our tours with Polo. In summary, I would highly recommend Yucatan excursions to anyone in Merida or the Yucatan region looking for an authentic Mexican experience!

As part of our honeymoon, we went on this tour with Luisa to Izamal or the yellow village as it is known; the first "pueblo magico" of Mexico. During the road trip from Merida we got a glimpse of the beautiful Henequen fields and the story of this important natural resource that made Yucatan one of the wealthiest places one century ago. The tour in Izamal was fantastic, starting with a coffee in a local hotel with a small Mayan pyramid as way to know why the convent was built in that specific location. Then we went on to visit the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid and climb it to the top where the view is just breathtaking and you can see the immense jungle surrounding Izamal. The San Antonio church was sadly closed due to Coronavirus restrictions but we went on a horse carriage that was as magic as the village. Then we discovered more of the local culture through its jewelry using local materials with one of Yucatan’s top artisan. As the day went one we finished with a delicious meal with local food and traditional tortillas cooked in wood ovens.

Daniella is fantastic. She put together a great trip that hit the highlights of the Yucatan around Merida in the few days that I had -- Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and the protected wetlands at Celestun. Consistently excellent recommendations for hotels, restaurants, knowledgeable guide for the Maya ruins, and they were extremely helpful with the travel disruptions and changing plans caused by the coronavirus situation. Daniella is always accessible and every aspect of these tours can be personalized to your liking. This trip was too short, I would love to come back to Merida and I would certainly hire Yucatan Concierge again to help arrange the trip.

Wow!!! So much happened in this trip that it's hard to summarize. First off...take more cash than you think you need. You'll visit several places that don't have credit cards as an option. And then remember to tip your house at the end. We felt so bad that we only had $1 dollar left to give them because they were so amazing!! So nice and polite and knowledgeable. This was a very long excursion (12.5 hours) that was incredible and we're so glad we took the time to do it. We learn s so much from the guide and the places themselves.
