This city on the central Vietnamese coast is a well-preserved example of the important Southeast Asian trading port it was from the 15th-19th centuries. Already a common stop for backpackers, it is becoming better known to tourists. On the 14th day of each lunar month, the town trades its electric lights for traditional colored lanterns. Sights include the Japanese Covered Bridge and the Quan Cong Temple. Let the town’s expert tailors make you some bespoke clothing.

I had the wonderful fortune to meet Ms Anh at Essensian. For those who are into natural therapies and health care without chemicals – make it a definite place to visit. Anh is a beautiful soul and you will leave soaked in positive energy. Essensian is more than a shop, it is an experience that you will remember. Anh is a genuine healer who gives you her undivided attention by listening and her advice comes from a place of love and intellect. One of the best things you could do in Hoi An is to make your way to Essensian – it might just be the place you have always needed to go to.

Immerse yourself in Vietnamese local culture and learn a new skill! Join us for our Handmade Leather Workshop, learn how to work with leather, design and make your own leather goods. Don’t hesitate and bring home the most special Vietnamese souvenir!
This was our second time to Hoi An so we wanted something that was a little outside of the box where we could channel our creativity and Canh’s leather making workshop ticked both boxes. We signed up for a Saturday morning class (8:30) and we were the only ones there so it felt like a private workshop. Canh was incredibly patient with both of us and an absolute joy to be around!! The workshop gave us a new appreciation for handmade goods and we got to walk away with a totally usable handmade wallet. We had so much fun and I personally found the sewing part of it super therapeutic!! Would highly recommend!!

The Tropics Hoi An Cooking class has more than 10 years experience in Food and Beverage business. Chef Hung understand We offer not only authentic cooking class, delicious VIetnamese set menu with 5 diffirent foods but also we are famous for pizza and pasta. We give you the best experience in Hoi An about foods and cooking class. We promise that after our class you can really cook at home.
If you have even the remotest interest in learning about Vietnamese food culture and cooking I would highly recommend The Tropics Hoi An cooking class which our Peregrine guide (Hue) recommended. The morning started with a half hour walking tour with Lou who introduced us to the ancient water wells of Hoi An and brought us to visit the towns oldest living residents who are also famous for their sesame soup. We then met Hung (a local chef) at the food market for a guided tour of how the locals shop for food each morning, which was fascinating - and not to mention colourful. Afterwards we set off with Hung to cook our purchases. Hung took us through the making of two different types of spring rolls, a classic chicken and prawn salad and a baked fish dish. Hung is an excellent teacher - in addition to explaining why different types of ingredients work together, he provided very clear step by step instructions. We took a break after each course to eat our work - which was delicious if I say so myself! I couldn’t believe we were able to produce such yummy food so easily. We got the recipes at the end and can’t wait to try them at home. Hung also very helpfully provided guidance about substitute ingredients if we can’t get certain items at home. Hung demystified Vietnamese cooking and gave us an appreciation of what a wonderfully varied, flavourful and interesting cooking culture exists in this country. A wonderful experience and one I’d highly recommend even for novice cooks.
