Perched on Tasmania’s southeastern coast, the lively city of Hobart is a unique mash-up of the 19th and 21st centuries. The waterfront cafes, restaurants and studios of the largest city in Tasmania are housed in centuries-old converted warehouses that overlook a harbor bustling with yachts and fishing boats. An active arts scene, vibrant nightlife and leisurely daytime pace add to the city’s charm.

A very enjoyable 3hrs on board the specially built boat. There were 3 boats out on the day we went and the weather was cold but not too choppy until we went into the Southern Ocean. We saw some spectacular sites and saw the first humpback whale sightings for this season as well as seals and lots of birds. Only thing we missed were dolphins. Took a good beating on the fast trip back to Adventure Bay but Anthony drove with great skill and consideration.

3/5 would probably suggest a pretty average experience but I would have actually given it a lot higher if they had gone through with the Mt Wellington section of the tour that we paid for. Through no fault of their own the roads were closed and had been for days before our tour but we were only informed of it while we were on the bus. We do feel Tours Tasmania misrepresented this and could have called/emailed ahead and given us the option to pull out or reduced fee. Mt Nelson was a poor substitute at best. That being said, our guide David was exceptional and really saved the tour for us. He was friendly, knowledgeable and loved to talk about everything in his city. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and learning from him. Overall, we feel the company did a bit of a bait and switch on us but David did manage to salvage the day to an extent. I'd recommend checking all locations are available before registering a tour with these guys.

I recently completed this tour and I could not rate it highly enough. I was unable to hire a car and I signed on for this tour as it ticked many of the boxes in relation to the places I wanted to see. Our tour guides, Tim and Ian were excellent, and I found out so much about the places we visited that I could never have found out travelling my myself- history, geology, zoology - our guides were an amazing source of information. The highlights were the National Parks - Gordon- Franklin, Lake St Clair, Cradle Mountain, Freycinet etc. Tasmania has a unique landscape, and we were given an opportunity to explore it. We had a lovely group of 18 people of mixed ages and nationalities, and that was another highlight for me. I enjoyed the backpacker experience, but if you are looking for five star accommodation this tour is not for you. We bought our own food, but were given the opportunity to buy fresh local oysters, amazing ice creams and Tasmanian baked goods. Even when it rained, our days were full of interest. Thank you particularly to our guides Tim and Ian who made sure that everything ran smoothly. They were always patient, informative and pleasant.
