Open everyday until the end of October Half Term 2021. We have one of the most comprehensive collections of owls in Europe, alongside an amazing variety of friendly miniature and rare breed animals. The 'hands on' experience is encouraged. A special parking area is provided for the disabled. A shaded parking area is set aside for dog owners. We recommend you phone ahead to clarify how to locate these. All display areas are accessible by wheelchair. Mobility scooters are available on free loan, booking ahead is advisable.
Located in beautiful Herefordshire countryside the Small Breeds Farm is a perfect place to spend the day. Brilliant for adults and families, there is a great selection of wonderful animals. The centre has a fantastic owl collection which is well laid out with informative signs. The rest of the animals are spread out throughout the farm, there are sheep, goats, llamas, pygmy goats, various other birds, donkeys, pigs, rabbits, chipmunks and a lovely water area with some giant tortoises nearby. It's a lovely relaxing place to enjoy the day particularly if the weather is good. You can feed some of the animals and get up close and personal. Many are free to roam around and are happy to interact with you. There is a cafe on site and a picnic area, so you can bring your own food or buy some home-made delights instead. Brilliant Covid measures are in place and there is a one way system through the park. Staff are really welcoming and helpful. Great value for money and lots of fun too.

Such a delightful street, with a tudor school house, butcher's row shop and an Elizabethan painted room just around the corner. Wonderful church at top of street a charming mix of Tudor and Georgian. The Malthouse cafe has great coffee, interesting cakes, tasty breakfast and lunch - we go there regularly and the Prince of Wales pub has good food and drink, atmosphere, wide range of gins. Always seems to be busy, popular and welcoming.

A beautiful abbey Church, set in peaceful grounds and home to Benedictine monks who live, work and pray here. Boasting hospitality in its own guest house, Hedley Lodge this is a place of calm where visitors can gather their thoughts and join in the monastic rhythm of daily prayer. The monks serve Catholic parishes across Hereford, Wales, Whitehaven and even in Peru. It's history goes back to 1859 and can be traced through its benefactors, the Wegg-Prosser family. Worth a visit for a day or longer, with organised retreats available throughout the year.

Took the children to see this monument (age range 12 to 21). We were all really impressed and the setting with the views was a real bonus. Good information board. Able to park ok but limited parking, although probably never that busy. Able to walk all around the monument and get some good photos.

A warm welcome greeted us as we were invited to take a seat in the upper room & listen to a short & very informative talk about the painted room by a very knowledgeable guide. The paintings date back to 1560/70 & are in the style of a Tudor knot garden with Biblical texts written above. The paintings lay undiscovered until 1989 so are a real find & a treat to see.Admission is free with donations welcomed. There are other exhibits to see in the upper room as well as small gifts & a guide book to purchase.Well worth a visit.

Abbey Dore is a small village south of Hereford which is named, somewhat unimaginatively, after Dore Abbey, an Abbey which is named, somewhat unimaginatively after the river it’s near, the Dore, which is named, somewhat unimaginatively, after the old Welsh word ‘Dwr’ meaning water. So, the Abbey near the wet river. Dore becomes D’Or, hence the region being called the ‘Golden Valley’. Anyway, the church is built partially on what remains of the Cistercian Abbey and it’s mighty impressive in scale, light quality and wall paintings of the time of Queen Anne. It also allows you to say as you walk in, ‘Ahh, this must be Abbey Dore’s Dore Abbey’s Door’ - which is a plus. All round an interesting church in an area full of interesting churches and castles - but a standout one at that.

Welcome to the museum of The Herefordshire Light Infantry and its predecessors, The Herefordshire Rifle Volunteers and The Herefordshire Regiment. It is the 107 year story of a Volunteer Regiment from a small English County. It is a success story. A story of bravery, determination, and devotion to duty, but also that of a job well done. Please ring or email to book your visit.
