Mysterious man made caves since before the settlement of nordic people in Iceland. Great guide, the daughter of the farmer (Sorrý gleymdi nafninu!). Highly recommended.

Seljalandsfoss

Incredible and spectacular waterfalls near the main road 1. Easy to get there, beautiful waterfall and the most amazing part is that you can walk right behind the waterfall. You can go around the waterfall, but be careful about slippery rocks and also be sure you're prepared. Some raincoat is an good idea, otherwise, you'll probably end up more or less wet from head to toes. The most interesting part of this waterfall is you can go behind the waterfall and see the falling water from there. If you are lucky enough, you'll get to see the rainbow. No trip along Iceland’s southern coast is complete without stopping at at least one of the stunning waterfalls that can be found right off the side of the road. Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss are two of the most popular falls in all of Iceland This gorgeous waterfall is definitely impressive.

Thjofafoss

I earmarked to visit this waterfall so after Haifoss we crossed the bridge and took Rd 26 towards Hella. The 4km drive detour from Rd 26 to the waterfall is a dirt road// pot holed in some areas but comfortably drivable without difficulty with our 2 wd Nissan nv200 camper. It was a dry day with no rains in early June 2018. This waterfall is part of the longest river in Iceland. It is surrounded by lava rocks on a lava field some lava rocks with purple hues which I did not visualize when visiting but appeared on my photos. There was so much water flowing when we visited. One can see some of the nugget rocks on the river which give the river a beautiful characteristic appearance. There are basalt columns on the side walls where the powerful waterfall drops into the raging blue river. Added the mountain on the backdrop makes this whole landscape looks absolutely stunning. The changing seasons, time of day and amount of water flowing will give a photographer a different prospective each time. We were the only ones at the scene on our visit.
