Helen, a Bavarian Alps replica town in Appalachian Georgia, is home to an Oktoberfest for the ages, overflowing with two-liter beer glasses and Germany's famous bratwursts.  To recover from the festivities, the savviest make their way to Cedar Creek Luxury Cabins on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Sue and I sifted two different buckets. She found several rubies worth keeping, while I found a really nice amethyst crystal and some unusual semi-precious stones worth keeping. We plan to Go back tomorrow to consult with the gem cutter. Hopefully he can tighten the diamond in Sue's favorite ring.

You are not able to walk to it because it is surrounded by a pasture but you do come up on it on the way to Helen. Less than a mile away, the Sautee Nacoochee Arts Museum has an amazing display and information about what the mound is all about and the history behind it.

We found it! You can swim here under the new bridge if you bring your suits. I think the graffiti is wonderful! People sign their names and leave their mark in history. Look under the bridge at the big solid tree trunks that hold it up!
