We visited Kauai in 2018. They were very helpful in assisting a novice quilter. They have a wide selection of materials. Since returning home additional orders have been place for more material. The orders have always been handled efficiently and timely. Another order to be placed soon. We are extremely pleased.

My, my, my~ I can't get enough of Palaloha Bikinis! We come to Maui for the winter every year. I wear my bikini in Wisconsin, Florida, Arizona, AND Hawaii. I wear them so much, I wear them out! But hey, that is a GOOD thing! Because then you can get a new one! Last night after dinner in Lahina my husband and I stopped at their store on Front Street. I had surfed in my three-year-old bikini that day and my bottoms wouldn't stay up! Time for a new suit! If you don't have one yet~ Get one! I am a 66 year old surfer girl!

Mrs. Barry's Kona Cookies

Mrs Barry's Kona Cookies. Featuring Award Winning Macadamia Nut cookie, along with 12 other delicious flavors, just like your Mother or Grandmother use to make. Open since 1980. A Delicious Way to Say "Aloha"

Reviewed By TravelTea - Foster City, United States

Located in an industrial area near Costco and the airport, this cookie shop makes the best chocolate-dipped (milk or dark) shortbread cookies. There is a small parking lot or you can find street parking. It was our 1st time visit, so we bought both types of choco-dipped shortbread cookies and a bag of mixed cookies (to try the variety) for omiyage to family on the mainland. OMG, everyone went nuts (no pun intended) for the shortbread cookies! Although pricey ~$1/cookie, they are the most authentic & delicious treats from HI. Make sure you bring enough back because your friends/family will be clamoring for them and they will be gone in no time. There is no shop in Honolulu but you can buy these cookies online. We gassed up our car rental at Costco, stopped by Mrs. Barry before heading to the airport. They survived the flight in our hand-luggage. However, next time, we will have to check them in else they'll be eaten up on the flight home.

The locals cannot praise this place enough - this place was recommended to us by at least 8 locals on different occasions as THE place to go for Poke. We each got a poke bowl for about $15ea and it was easily the best Poke i've had in my life. Dont let the setting of a liquor store fool you, this is some seriously good food from a great business.

Ko Hana Distillers

Distillers is home to KoHana Rum, Hawai'i's first agricole rum distillery. We look forward to showing you our rich history through sight and taste. We hand-harvest throughout the year and press the cane to juice right at the distillery. No molasses or refined sugar in anything we do. We are a true farm-to-bottle rum distillery like no other in Hawaii. We require all guests wear face masks while visiting our tasting room. The store is open for tastings and purchases between 11am and 5pm. Tours go out Fri thru Sun at 12pm and 4pm. Please call our tasting room for tour availabilities. Started as a conservation farm in 2008, Kō Hana quickly became the largest conservator of native Hawaiian sugarcane in the world with over 30 named varieties each genetically tested for authenticity. We grow only heirloom varieties of sugarcane brought to Hawaii by Polynesian voyagers 1,000 years ago.

Ko Hana is a great destination for learning more about Hawaii's cottage distilling industry, and the tremendous sense of Ohana between the various groups and industries all supporting one another. I was very impressed with the stewardship Ko Hana shows the land and the enthusiasm our tour guide had for the native sugar cane and the process it takes to become rum. Enjoy tour with Ko Hana, learn more about Hawaii, leave with the taste of island, take some home to share!

Lavaloha

We are growers and makers of single origin, 100% Hawaiian chocolate. Our 1,000 acre cacao farm is set high on the slopes of Mauna Kea, just outside of Hilo, where the rich volcanic soil adds depth and flavor to our cocoa beans. We invite you to take the scenic drive up to our Visitor Center where you'll be welcomed with sweeping mauka to makai views. Enjoy samples of our handcrafted chocolates at the Visitor Center & Gift Shop! Embark on a Tree-to-Chocolate Tour with our knowledgeable guides where you'll explore our cacao orchards, walk through our chocolate processing facilities, visit the chocolate kitchen and learn about the tree-to-chocolate journey. Our vast lanai (porch) is a great place to take in the views of Hilo. Entrance to our Visitor Center & Gift Shop is free and open to the public.

We saw Lavaloha in a Facebook ad, booked a tour, and boy was it wonderful. I absolutely love chocolate but never knew how it was made. Our guide took us through the entire chocolate making process as we toured their cacao farm, and we tasted everything from the cacao fruit to the roasted bean to the finished product. Lavaloha grows their own cacao, processes the beans, makes the chocolate and packages it all right on their farm. They focus on making top quality chocolate and it really is much nicer regular store-bought chocolate. There is a shop where you can buy some to take home. They are only about 10 mins from Hilo downtown and their property is beautiful, with its own waterfall. Because it’s higher up on the base of Mauna Kea, there is a beautiful view of Hilo and the bay from there. It’s definitely worth a visit.
