The Museum of the Affections is the largest Art Brut Museum in Cuba. Its creator "Gallo" is 94 years old. Before being an artist he was Diplomat and Agent of the Cuban Intelligence. After his retirement he created this unique space. Recycling and reusing irons, personal items and unusual materials. He has created an outdoor garden full of art while turning his apartment into an authentic Gallery

Museum offers a glimpse of colonial Cuba.
I was very tired at this point in the itinerary so waited for my friends in the Museums coffee shop on the ground floor. The attendant made me an excellent capucchno. I also visited the gift shop which had a good selection of art books and art prints, as well as Videos/DVD's on Cuba and its history.

There are two Bellas Artes Museums, and they are close but not at all next to one another. The Cuban Art is in a modern building that is next door to the Museum of the Revolution. The collection was fantastic. I knew nothing about Cuban art and was not familiar with any of these artists, but the collection was really strong and well worth spending a couple of hours looking at. We did not go to the other branch having heard that if we only had time for one of them we should choose the Cuban. I'm very glad that we did. There is a small cafe area on the ground floor if you are in need of a coffee.

It's hard to believe looking around your surroundings that this mansion is still standing, and has been turned into a museum. If you are curious to see how life was like before 1959 this is the place to view it. I wish they had audio tours so that you could linger at your own pace, and get a detailed description of each room. However, the next best thing is to see if you can book a guided tour. Don't miss exploring this beautiful piece of history.
