Champagne Alain Mercier et Fils

Reviewed By Ankevdm - Zaventem, Belgium

After reading all those wonderful comments about this champagne house, we decided to book a visit. And I'm so glad we did! To be honest, I don't know a lot about champagne but I couldn't leave without visiting a champagne house. This was such an amazing experience. Romain talked so passionately about how the champagne was made and explained everything so well. He's very friendly, can answer every question you have and is fluent in English. The champagne we tried after the tour was delicious, my family was also very happy when I returned home with this delicious champagne :D. There are a lot of champagne houses but if you visit this area, I highly recommend visiting Alain Mercier.

Champagne Fallet-Dart

Based in Charly-sur-Marne to the west of the Champagne producing region, the Fallet family comes from a long line of winegrowers cultivating grapes since 1610. Driven by a shared passion for their 'terroir' and the vine, Gaston Fallet and Geneviève Dart, created the brand "Champagne Fallet-Dart" in the 70s. Today Independent Winegrowers, their descendants Daniel and Gérard Fallet and their sons Paul and Adrien work their 18 hectares (45 acres) of vines using integrated vine growing methods, harvest their grapes with care, create, bottle and sell their champagnes themselves on their estate. This results in authentic and distinguished champagnes, whose excellence is recognized each year in France and abroad by numerous awards.

Champagne Belin

MEUNIER EXPERTISE Olivier, who is an oenologist by trade, is immersed in growing the “Meunier”, this typical and unpredictable grape variety of the Marne river Valley. They treasure their old vineyards that express so well the personality and the earthy touch of their 17 plots. They look after them with regular hoeing and a natural green cover. Vineyard zoning The harvest and the grapes pressing are mastered while respecting each kind of soil: clay, tuff, sand, and silt. The complexity of each Champagne blend shows this variety. In the cellar, the champagne batches come mainly from “Meunier”. The wine making process takes place in small stainless steel vats with temperature control and also in barrels. Signature blends Olivier produce six original batches, including “Bel Instant” (90 % Meunier), “Bleu Chic” (Meunier highlighted by Chardonnay) and “Clair Obscur” (perfect harmony between Pinot and Meunier sublimated thanks to a wine-making process in barrels).

Champagne Meteyer Pere & Fils

Reviewed By JessicaRose91 - Norwich, United Kingdom

I can not recommend this champagne house enough! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The champagnes we tasted were the best we’ve ever had and the museum was brilliantly laid out and informative. There was an elderly lady in our group who struggles with mobility and she was able to access all parts of the tour and was made to feel so welcome and involved, as was one of the mothers who was breastfeeding her new baby at the time. Nothing was too much trouble! We did the food pairing tasting experience with a tour. Nadia, the guide, was so informative and had a brilliant sense of humour, she made us laugh, taught us so much and really made our experience. Her passion for champagne (in particular Champagne Meteyer) oozed from her and it made us so excited to try it! They even catered for the vegetarian in the group with some excellent alternative to the meat/fish dishes. You can tell this family love champagne and love making an extremely high quality product. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for such a luxury, lovingly made product - it’s no wonder they have won so many awards! Can’t recommend this place enough, you won’t ever regret a visit here. I can’t wait to buy more bottles and share them with family and friends.
