*PLAN NAME Experience Shodo and Kendo at Miyajima Misen Daihonzan Daisho-in (including samurai lunch)     *OUTLINE You can experience special time at Daisho-in which is the oldest temple in Miyajima in Aki Province. Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) workshop will be provided by a calligrapher, Sekidou Sakaguchi, who is also a Miyajima Tourism Ambassador.  For Kendo  (Japanese fencing,) you can experience "two-sword style” fencing, the style established by the famous Musashi Miyamoto. Shodo and Kendo are both behaviors to calm your mind and seek for truth. The spirits of practices, manners, and courtesy exist in there, and you can touch and feel Japanese old traditional cultures.

Enjoy the serene and quiet atmosphere of our 300-year-old Zen temple. You can take pictures as much as you want while you are in here, and we will take pictures of you doing the lessons. You can take pictures in our Japanese garden, too. Our lesson is very good introduction to the Japanese authentic cultures. Wearing kimono make it even more special that could be the highlight of your trip.

We do the activity at 300-year-old Zen temple. Kimono wearing is included in the activity that you will feel this is how it is supposed to be. Tea ceremony with kimono outfit will make you emerge into authentic Japanese traditional culture and it will stay in your memory for long time.

Calling all oyster lovers! Learn more about this amazing food on our ship! Board our boat and get close to an oyster farming raft. Watch oyster harvesting up close. The view of the large number of oysters cultivated from a ten-meter fishing strand coming out of the sea is truly a magnificent sight! Indulge in the beauty of Itsukushima Shrine from the sea as we approach the great shrine gate. After that, we will return to the Shimada Suisan oyster factory and watch how the oysters are unloaded from the ship. Observe the skilled workers shuck the oysters in a speedy fashion. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a fisherman-style meal of rice porridge with fresh oysters. (Optional)

〈The oldest temple in Miyajima〉 Feel Japanese spirit throuth hand-copying sutra and Goma-gyo, impressive flame ascetic training In this plan, you can experience Shakyo (sutra copying) and Goma-gyo (holy fire practice) at Daisho-in which is the oldest temple in Miyajima in Aki Province. Your mind will be calmed by the veiling scent of Japanese ink and sutras while experiencing sutra copying.  On the other hand, while experiencing the holy fire practice, you will be overwhelmed by looking at blazing fires and smoke rising to the ceiling of the hall.

【OUTLINE】　 This plan offers an experience to climb a mountain with a guide living in Miyajima, which is the first climbing tour in Miyajima designed for international travelers. We will take the Ohmoto course which we believe is the best among the Mt. Misen climbing courses. You can feel the nature and enjoy spectacular views along the course. It is approx. 6 km from the ferry terminal to the top of the mountain. We will climb slowly to the altitude of 535 meters in approx. 3 hours. On the trails, there are stone works here and there called chouseki (trail-side stone) which are milestones. 【HIGHTLIGHTS】 The first local guided trekking experience in Miyajima. Enjoy the story of the sacred island where god exist from ancient times and primitive nature. Walk "Ohmoto Course" that has the richest nature and stunning views in all courses. Visit Miyama shrine built 1,200 years ago. A local guide will take you to see the amazing seasonal scenery.
