The beach has changed markedly since I lived here in the 1950s when Lee Tower was the central attraction. The beach groins have been shored up. The cliffs have been landscaped. There's more for the kids to do, such as the skateboard park. Best of all, the promenade allows an easy walk or jog from Browndown all the way to Hillhead. The views across to the Isle of Wight are spectacular and there's always plenty of activity on the Solent for sightseers and water sport participants alike. The icing on the cake is that, regardless of weather, a one minute walk takes you to the High Street which is full of interesting and unique shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the 7-day open Co-Op and Tesco convenience stores. Just a 10 minute drive from Fareham makes this a great beach to visit any time of the year.

One of my endurance run route is via HILL HEAD. It is one of the most amazing places to visit. Route I follow is "Locks Heath -> Holly Hill -> Costal Route which takes me to -> Meon Shore -> Titchfield Haven-> Hill Head -> Lee On Solent -> Fareham -> Back to Locks Heath." Beauty of these places can't be explained in words. Hill Head have ample of sitting area with nice wooden clean benches. Area is clean , ample of parking. If you want to dine out and take a look on beach , make sure to visit "The Osborne View". Hill Head have much better photogenic views of surfers and beach. Massive lawns of Hill Head are perfect for picnic with family, flying kites and bar-be-que. In summers I have spend a solo night on Hill Head in my tent and with bar-be-que and it was amazing. If you want to explore more of hidden gem in area near by you can walk towards "Rising Sun" pub by the beach which joins Titchfield Haven to Warsash Shore. On the way you will see amazing hills which are easy to climb and view from top is amazing on sunny days. I will rate it a 3 km walk (one way) from Hill Head. Overall I love whole route of 32.5 Km which I mentioned above. However whole route can be divided into as short or as long you want. Amazing place and a must visit. Few places you can park your car and trust me , you will always find a place even in the busiest summers though you might need to walk a bit.

Lovely walk this morning from the Nab car park right around Sandy Point to the sailing club and back again. An easy going walk past the nature reserve with the tide on its way out on a warmish day with only a few on the beach. Plenty of young sailors on the water too - perhaps a competition. So peaceful and a nice way to stretch the legs. For those that believe that Hayling is all pebbles there is a clue in the title of Sandy Point, loads of sand towards the sailing club. But no parking hence the need to park somewhere like Nab car park and then walk.

Usually we like wild and windswept beaches far from anywhere like Shetland Skye or Orkney but we do really love this beach. We usually come off the very early ferry at 6am drive here and park on the front by the beach. We just sit and watch the whole place come alive. First the very early morning joggers, lots of nurses and doctors with their nhs name badges bouncing along, then the dog walkers, then the fun joggers, families with children arriving and the whole place is alive with happy faces. I get out and gently walk (post heart attack) along the path at the side of the beach, it is so easy going and flat. I do walk down at the nearest point to the sea, just a few feet, and just stand and take in the view. All the different ferries going in and out, accross to the old forts and to the Isle of Wight. We had brilliant sun with a fresh breeze. This really is a lovely place.
