Things to do in Hamburg, Germany: The Best City Tours

December 19, 2021 Tambra Mccollister

Second only to Berlin in size and population, the city of Hamburg is home to one of the biggest harbors in Europe. A stroll along its many waterways and canals illustrates why it has been called the "Venice of the North." Don't miss a trip to the local fish market (Fischmarkt), the Merchants District (marked by its imposing red-brick architecture), a fine dining experience along the river or a night out in the university quarter. And did we mention the Reeperbahn (red light district)? It's quite famous for its… red lights.

Explore the real Sternschanze with this 2-hour walking tour in Hamburg and see the district between gentrification, culture and alternative lifestyle. Guests will enjoy a fantastic day away from the city life and will be able to explore the local streets of the “Sternschanze” area on this walking tour. The original, alternative Hamburg of the 80s is still to be found here, but the trendy and hip has already been coming in for years. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the Schanzeviertel has experienced a steady increase in popularity among young people, creative people and real estate speculators. Anyone interested in Hamburg's cultural life, culinary delights, street art and nightlife away from the Reeperbahn or the city centre should definitely take part in this city tour.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time exploring Hamburg with our local host, Aline. She showed us the highlights of Hamburg and she had great recommendations about the local delicacies. We had three children all under 10 years old, and Aline was so accommodating and engaging. She made sure everyone had a good time. Definitely recommend Aline for young families. We were able to see a lot during our visit. I like the flexibility of a private tour, and we could adjust the itinerary based on our preferences.

This is why I will be showing & discussing with you the pictures during the shooting, to help you reach even more natural poses. Every guest receives 20 professionally edited photos within one week. We took the photo tour in April this year with our 2 kind and it was an amazing experience! Liviu is kind and funny, has a lot of patience - a great guide and with photographer skills I have never met before. Our kids were thrilled with his playful style and gave them a lot trust in taking photos all over the places we went! I would definitely do it again :))

Martin Luther is NOT the same historical figure as MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. Germany is not the same nation as the US. Martin Luther was the great GERMAN reformer of the 1500s. Martin Luther King Jr. was the great civil rights American reformer of the 1960s. I keep trying to help this organization, but they don't seem to worry about trivia like historical facts.
