The zócalo of this old mining town is named for silver tycoon José de la Borda.

Created in 1956 and located on the side of a house, this mural is one of the city's most important cultural artifacts.
We have visited the Murals Diego Rivera several times as part of the Acapulco City Tour. They are amazing and also are great photo opportunities. Portions look a bit worn, but I assume they have been well preserved over the years.

These cliffs are home to the daredevil cliff divers.
The name means "the broken" since the cliffs were dynamited to quarry rock for a hotel (according to a sign at the scene). The cliff views are amazing and the cliff divers death defying. There was a carnival atmosphere each night as the locals congregated to view the divers. Every visitor to Acapulco should include this site at night.

Visited Taxco from Mexico City with Mexcity Tours. We had an hour and half to explore on our own the area of the Zocalo. What a lovely place to enjoy. The Zocalo is surrounded by many shops, Santa Prisca Church and the very interesting winding narrow roads going up to the hills filled with vendors selling their wares, food and souvenirs. It is even fun to watch all the vehicules trying to manoevre down those narrow winding roads leading to main circle around the Zocalo. In the Zocalo there is alot of things going on. Now the Zocalo is not very big-no where near the size of Mexico City or Acapulco. But it is very pretty and quaint. A lot of people just sitting around on the benches, with some vendors walking around selling souvenirs or selling snacks like churros. There was even going on while we were there a few shows in the square-a folkloric dance group and a fashion show of some comic book characters

We like to plan our own day trips, and La Chole is a great one from Zihuatanejo. The other reviewers are spot on with their enthusiastic reviews. We took the Petatlan Combi bus from Zihuatanejo and got off just past Palos Blancos. Tell the driver where you are going and he'll make the stop. 30 pesos. A truck taxi, like from Los Achotes to Barra de Potosi, took us 3 k to the Museum. 15 pesos. There are local, English-speaking guides there to interpret the exhibits. Helpful, as the interpretation panels are in Spanish. 20 peso "donation" for the Museum. The guide will then take you to the excavation sites. Suggested "tip": 2-300 pesos. Truck taxi or local taxi back to Hwy 200, then flag the Zihua Combi to return to Zihuatanejo. It was Thursday on our trip, so we stopped in Coacoyul on he way back for Pozole!

Main square featuring street vendors, restaurants and a gazebo.
Walked from la ropa and ended up walking the length of the malecon although it had a diff name. It is paved into zihua with part beach sand area and talks you over the canal and to the pier and fish market. Really nice walk, felt safe although there was some police. Few joggers, few dogs with owners that did not clean up their pet waste which was disappointing. It is worth enjoying more than once. Bistro del mar is a great place to stop for a bite. Clean, great food and exceptional service. Not too pricey either.
