Beautiful exterior and located in the center of town where people were out and about relaxing and gathered together socializing. I went in to say a quick prayer and place was packed.

A very nice maze made by the lake that is a pleasure for the eyes. Wealthy people from Medellín who have superb villas on the shore seem to agree with that. Best appreciated from the penol.

This spectacular deck was inaugurated less than one month ago (early September 2019). It is a wide strip of modern spaces where visitors and locals can stroll, walk, ride bicycles, and have a good time. It is located right on the shores of the Guatape lake, steps away from the colorful streets and squares of the town. The view over the water is awe-inspiring. There are green spaces with plants and flowers, fountains, sculptures, playgrounds.

Strolling around Guatape is a real pleasure. There is color everywhere. Every house, every building, every restaurant, every store, and even the church, display proudly their creative "zocalos". These are ornamental stripes painted in the lower half of the exterior walls, depicting flowers, animals, local scenes, symbols, in bold combinations of intense colors. Steps away from the Main Square and the Church, you will find the Plazoleta de los Zocalos. It is a small square, with rows of steps in one of its sides, each step painted in a different color, yellow, blue, red, green. It is surrounded by colorful buildings and souvenir stores, cafes and restaurants. Locals and tourist congregate at this spot, where you can take pictures, find street performers, listen to Colombian music, or simply sit down and relax.
