Sitting at a strategic position along the Thames River, water has played a significant part in the growth of Groton, Connecticut. Visit Fort Griswold, a Revolutionary War era base built to defend the port of New London, most infamously known as the site of the betrayal of American forces by Benedict Arnold. Groton is also the "Submarine Capital of the World," home to the US Navy's main submarine base, as well as the Submarine Force Museum, where visitors can board the first nuclear submarine.

My son took us to Bluff Point when we visited him at Thanksgiving. The trail in the woods is beautiful! I can't get over all of the rock formations! We collected shells at a beach along the way. The shells covered the whole beach? I wonder what kind of shells they were. A dome-shaped brown or black shell with a big hole in the.bottom. The view of The Ocean from the rocks was breathtaking!

The beach has a wonderful concession stand right at the beautiful majestic beach house with it's wrap around porch. The concession is run by the Groton Public Schools Food Service Department. From breakfast sandwiches to burgers, dogs, clam fritters, grilled cheese and salads. There is something there for everyone. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. The food is delicious and made right there. Enjoy your purchase on the benches or the picnic tables. This is a beautiful spot on this Earth and the convenience of an on site, well run, concession stand makes it a perfect destination.
