Glen Jakes Riding School is a family run business, our friendly relaxed atmosphere makes you feel at ease, whilst our qualified helpful staff provide educational, informative, fun riding lessons for all. We are open all year round, Mondays for Pony Club training and events, Tuesday - Friday daytime and evenings 9am - 9pm, Saturday - Sunday 9am - 7pm. We have established an outstanding reputation since 1990, the key to our success is that we provide a complete range of activities to suit all levels of riding abilities, from complete beginners to advanced level. Available for all ages no age limit. Our flexible timetable enables you to ride at a time that suits you.
I had my first lesson here after not riding for 14 years due to a back injury. I used to compete at a professional level, and sadly I hurt myself while showjumping. I explained when booking that I wasn’t a novice, but I was particularly out of shape, and practise. I was greeted by a friendly face at reception who told me who I would be riding, and who would be my instructor. My instructor was excellent, we started with some basics and she worked me up to more difficult activities, allowing me to find my current level. Towards the end of the lesson everything finally clicked back into place, and my instructor was as excited as I was! A great lesson, and I will definitely be returning, a wonderful feeling to be back in the saddle, and so great to have been assisted by an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher.

Here at the Stables we offer a variety of activities. whether trekking in 275 acres of lovely parkland, Riding lessons or Horse care courses for the ABRS or Riding & Road safety training for the BHS we have it covered. We are Manchesters only Pony Club center and are the proud hosts of Manchesters only Riding for the Disabled group. We teach courses in Horse care and Stable managment for The Manchester College.
I have ridden at Wythenshawe Park for a few years now and would 100% recommend these stables to anyone. My riding ability and confidence has improved so much through the brilliant teaching, and my Mum and I love to hack out in the fields and woodlands in the park. The horses are much loved and so well cared for by everyone at the yard, with a special thanks going to Beth and Ethan for always going the extra mile to make our ride safe and enjoyable

We are a busy, yet very friendly Riding School that provides affordable lessons to both adults and children. We are based just a few miles south west of Manchester in the Mersey valley green belt. We are situated in 450 acres of open countryside yet still close to the motorway network and this allows us to offer fantastic off road hacking routes to our clients. Our facilities include one indoor school and four, all weather, rubber surfaced outdoor floodlit menages with comfortable viewing facilities and fully stocked café. We are the only riding school in the area to have our own Racewood Dressage simulator, the most advanced of its type in the world. On ‘Othello’, we can offer technical riding lessons to nervous or returning riders and beginners through to advanced dressage riders. Our experienced, qualified and friendly staff can offer riding levels to all abilities including beginners at affordable prices :)
Our grandchildren, aged 9 & 6, mentioned a few days ago they had never been on a horse, so when we saw CRC on Facebook we booked a "pony trek" for them. Their excitement grew as we approached the centre and they realised what was planned for them. After being issued with helmets they were introduced to their ponies, after which they had a 30-min circular trek around the centre. Contrary to some other TA reports we found the staff to all be very pleasant, happy to help, and to tell us all about the ponies we were assigned to.

We had a group on for Matchmoor riding school, half hour lesson and then a hack. Everyone was super friendly and very helpful, we had Ellen and we can’t sing her praises enough she was a lovely girl who talked us through the lesson and then walked with us on the hack. The horses are beautiful and very experienced felt as ease all the way through, mine was Puzzle. Would highly recommend and look forward to going again ????
