My mother-in-law and I went here and picked cherries. It was easy peasy and we had a good time. The Rennie's staff is very knowledgeable about the cherries and it can be a fun activity.

Lots of shops, restaurants, and bars. Plan to spend a morning or afternoon taking everything in. Very walkable.

Old state asylum that is being renovated into shops, restaurants, wineries, and more...lots to look at, including tons of trails to walk, bike, ski, etc.
We enjoyed the historic tour of the former insane asylum grounds, some restored and some yet to be restored. Our tour guide shared personal experiences and insights from her childhood as a child of a staff psychiatrist. If you enjoyed the Alcatraz tour or have, like me, read a lot of historical fiction about women who were put in asylums often for dubious reasons, you definitely need to check it out. Be aware that there are stairs, rough floors, etc. Thank you to the people of Traverse City for saving this historic resource and allowing us to learn about it.

First let me say the owner is the nicest guy you want to meet! The maze was huge and so much fun! There were things to find inside which made it even more fun. We picked apples after and the orchard was wonderful. Great way to spend a half a day.
