Welcoming, tolerant Gran Canaria offers a little something for everyone. Families flock to the water parks and beaches of Puerto Rico. Those seeking peaceful escape scamper to Mogan's quiet fishing villages. Gay visitors crowd the bars, restaurants and beaches of Playa del Ingles. Urban attractions are on offer in Las Palmas. Three highways open up the island for those with a rental car or a bus schedule. Prime sites to visit include Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Arucas and Palmalitos zoo park.

The megalithic place of Cuatro Puertas (literally four doors, in English due to the most important part is a cave with four entrances) is located in the west part of the island of Gran Canaria. It is one of the most important megalithic places in the island as La Cueva Pintada (the paint cave, in English) and El Cenobio de Valerón. Here you can see the cave with four entrances and if you walk 10 minutes more you can see a cliff, where there are a lot of curious caves and from here you can see very beautiful views of surroundings. Very recommendable for stonelovers!

I was reading Sapiens during my trip so visiting this museum makes it all relevant. Student ticket was only 2 euros so I got a good deal here. The site is so close to the beach and the bus station so if you take a trip to Puerto de Mogan, this is another activity you can consider. It is not a massive area so we managed to read and check out everything in 2 hours. The presentation was really interesting and took us on a time-travel trip of the island's history.

Very well made and dramatic video presentations showing life of the pre-conquistador population on the Canaries. Makes it easier to then envision their life when seeing the remains of their buildings. You can also go inside reconstructed dwellings. Good guides!
