What a great person. I think one of the most memorable people we met on our trip to this beautiful city. Bekir speaks English and Japanese so well. He speaks English better than many individuals do in the USA. He had offered such great conversation and perspectives in life. It was just so pleasant speaking to him as he is well spoken, well travel and an EXTREMELY intelligent person. He was so hospitable. During one of our drives, I wanted to travel to another city to buy a ney (flute). I couldn't communicate at all with the elderly shop owners. Bekir offered to help before we got out of the car but I thought I could handle it. So I couldn't communicate and proceed to call Bekir for help. Before the call could be completed, Bekir came up the stairs into the music shop and was checking to see if everything was ok. I told him about our situation. He spoke with the shop owners and negotiated down the price of the ney to a fair price for both of us. You cannot find this sort of kindness and hospitality anywhere in the USA. He is so kind and helpful. He is so honest as well which is something I respect so much. He has left us with great memories, and I look forward to the day we can hopefully meet again!
