The sandy coast of Goa is perfect for reclining by the sea. Nestle into a cushioned chair at a beach shack and savor a curry while you sip a Kingfisher beer, watching the sun slip lazily below the horizon. In Old Goa, the beautiful Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fine example of baroque architecture. Visit during Christmastime to experience a fantastic religious and cultural mash-up of East and West.

We too an early morning boat tour with birdwatching guide Uday Mandrekar with another family of three. The river was quiet and beautiful at 6.30AM and Uday helped us spot so many varieties of birds that we wouldn't ever have otherwise. There were no mugger crocs though as we went out at high tide. The government-run tourist boats are way cheaper (approx Rs.900 for a 10-seater compared to Rs.500+ per head that Uday charges) but I found the experience worth it because - he took the boat down paths that the govt boat doesn't go - he acted as private bird guide and helped us spot and photograph many varieties of birds - he was very knowledgeable about the plant life, the history of the island, the tides, and life in the village and had great stories to share - a private tour is always quieter than a crowded group tour Would not recommend this to anyone who isn't keen on birds and quiet nature-watching.

If you are in Goa you will definitely go to Basilica of Bom Jesus, just 20 minutes from this place you can reach Divar Island... A place to experience peace and relax. And also you will get the pleasure of traveling by ferry.
