With its sandy North Shore beaches, rocky outcrops, green parks, hemlock woods and wild estuaries full of shorebirds, it is no wonder that Gloucester has attracted such a rich and diverse artists' community. Fitz Hugh Lane, Winslow Homer and John Sloan are just some of the artists who have taken inspiration from Gloucester's beautiful surrounds. Still boasting dozens of galleries and boutiques, as well as museums, theaters and an artists' colony, the city's art scene clearly continues to thrive.

I love when I get to taste so many excellent flavored vinegars and oils. Their COVID procedures are quite good and you can still taste. The staff was fantastic, knowledgeable, and kind. And the gift items are lovely too.

Tours run daily in the summer: Monday - Saturday at 11am & 2pm and Sundays at 11am. $10/adult, $8/seniors & students, kids under 10 are free. Tours are about 45 minutes long. Sweatshirts are recommended (our icehouse is 28 degrees fahrenheit).
There's a machine in the heart of this giant fridge that crushes ice blocks the size of upright pianos. The machine, which lives and operates in near darkness, is a kind of spiked roller of a size you'd see on a combine harvester. I reckon it was invented by the makers of early noir horror films, because if you wanted to design a machine for eating humans, this would be it. I have nightmares about this machine.. Victorian health and safety considerations never looked so stark. A wonderful place, sunk in history, ghosts, fish, ice, endeavour.

If you are looking for jewelry, this is the place! Such unusual pieces and hundreds of dazzling stones! The best part was that the owner, Justin, spends all the time you need in picking just the right piece of jewelry.
