Gloucester Cathedral offers at least 3 tours (costs range 7-13 GBP) and they are conducted by volunteer locals, so I feel fine paying/contributing. I took the Highlights and the Tower tour total of 30min and 1hr respectively, (couldn't fit the Crypt tour) both done by lively docents who know their Norman vs. Perpendicular architecture and history. book when you enter. You could walk around on your own, but having a local guide you also get more interesting commentary.

They have done a great job of renovating this; including the old crypt school room. They are very welcoming.

It was so refreshing to find a church that is clearly alive and well in the centre of Gloucester Docks. Some great stained glass and wall paintings.

Prinknash Abbey is a monastic community of men, who live in the spirit of the Rule of Saint Benedict, in the heart of the Cotswolds.
I am a regular to Prinknash Cafe, and I have visited once the Bird Park Coffee Shop to, both very relaxed environment, excellent food and drinks, perfect staff service, a wonderful place to relax and chat with friends, or even on your own. I return time after time, and I am never disappointed. The scenery is lovely, sitting in the Bird Park Coffee Shop is interesting watching the animals, delicious cakes and biscuits made locally are exceptional.

St Barnabas is a lively church family, who meet on the south side of the city of Gloucester. We try to live in a way that speaks of the peace and hope that the Christian faith offers in today’s world. We gather in a beautiful and unusual church building, dating from 1938-9, by N F Cachemaille-Day (1896-1976). Nugent Francis Cachemaille-Day was an important ecclesiastical architect of the inter-war years; the church demonstrates the influence of the liturgical movement, with its combination of traditional and modern materials and innovative planning. The design has been described as "radical", and was built to Cachemaille-Day's unaltered original design. The stained glass was designed by Christopher Webb (1886-1966), and dates from 1940. In the Lady Chapel is stained glass resited from the temporary Church which can still be seen opposite the exisiting building and is now used as a church hall. The church is open every day during daylight hours.
