The Aquitaine company is a family business, run by Pacsal Bories. 3-4 members of her family work on the boat with her. She is great, Very helpful. The Captain is a cranky old Austrian, but really quite amusing. The boat is a converted transport barge. It is not fancy, but it is comfortable and clean. There is a nice bar/lounge area, some outside space, and a big bike deck. The bikes are absolutely first class. Our group (except me) had new german e-bikes that worked very well. Everyone found the 30-45k. per day easy. I am a relatively serious 60+ cyclist. I don’t know if they just figured it out, but they gave me a brand new lightweight gravel/adventure bike that was fantastic. I was the only one to get this high-end bike. So I had no problem leading out the group every day. The routes chosen for riding were excellent. Several days there were long and short options. They took us to plenty of beautiful small villages, wineries, no shortage of patisseries, markets, and interesting sites. The best part of the routes was that there is virtually no car traffic, and it was very safe. You are more likely to come across a grape wagon, or old tractor than a car. Its easy to get lost , but all the roads connect, and you always end up back on track. The food is fresh and plentiful but not real fancy. The only drawback I would say is the dining room, with its 7 foot ceiling, and closely spaced tables was very noisy when all 80 passengers were in for dinner. I can recommend this cruise to everyone, except those expecting AMA type classy cruising. This one is for active people who want to be on the go, and have lots of freedom.

Our local guide (“small” Lawrence) was kind and knowledgeable, and logistics with her and the tour were seamless. Only recommendation would be to cut the wax museum visit (which comes at the end of the day) because by then, you’ve heard Therese’ story a lot and seen “real” sites so the wax museum seemed superfluous.
