A museum, housed in a former railway station built in the 1870s, that traces local history from the very distant to the much more recent past. It is also a branch of the The Blue Mountains Public Library. Along with museum and library services, the Craigleith Heritage Depot offers an archival research center. Visit often to see its changing exhibitions and check out @CraigleithDepot for online programs.

Located in the railway town of Capreol, the museum is a must see destination for any history buff. Home to a unique collection of rail history, the collection is highlighted by retired CN steam locomotive #6077. The museum house, a former home belonging to the local railway superintendent, boasts an impressive collection of artifacts related to the lumber and mining industries. The museum's Heritage Centre, located in the town's former Fire Hall and Police Station sheds light on the regions social history.
If you are passing through the area make a quick stop at the museum you will be amazed at all of the stuff they have to show. Old Steam Engines, Cabooses, a school car, box car home... also check out the house to see the history of the area over time and the fire to learn more about the town and see the model railway. If you are into jail cells check our the basement at the old firehall

Closed for the season, the staff were preparing for an event and allowed us in to have a look around. The management and team were extremely friendly and welcoming - and very informative. Even though they were busy, they took the time to stop and chat. The shop was very well stocked with fascinating books and references on the local region. The museum is showing some signs of wear and tear - but the collection inside tells a great story about Midland. This is why it is such a great community museum, as it so obviously displays local history and artifacts. We will definitely return during the summer season in order to see the reconstruction of a Huron/Ouendat village.
