Gaziantep Museum

Reviewed By Marktenjag - Harrogate, United Kingdom

Visited here following recommendations from local colleagues and so pleased I did. I love antiquity and ancient art, ruins etc, and this did not disappoint. It is a huge collection of mosaics and other treasures, mainly from around the 4th Century AD, which have been painstakingly lifted, restored and placed in this large museum. There is a theatre which plays an introductory programme giving a historical account, and this is well worth doing before you start the tour. The 'gypsy girl's' face has been adopted as the symbol of Gaziantep and is available for viewing in a dark windowless room upstairs to preserve it. Overall an incredible place for history buffs, and I could have spent a lot longer there than the 2 hours I had available .

Medusa Cam Eserler Muzesi

Reviewed By 1973LYS - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Small museum with really beautiful and amazing collections and the museum building itself is lovely! Entry fee 4 TL, this museum is worth 30 min of my time and I can consider the second archeological museum in Gaziantep. Although I would recommend to change the presentation and a little bit cleaning (it is somehow dusty).
