Gampola (Sinhala:ගම්පොල, Tamil:கம்பளை) is a town located in Kandy District, Central Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. Gampola was made the capital of the island by King Buwanekabahu IV who ruled for four years in the mid fourteenth century. The last king of Gampola was King Buwanekabahu V. He ruled the island for 29 years. A separate city was built in Kotte during this time by a noble known as Alagakkonara. The longest sleeping Buddha statue in South Asia is located in Gampola, the Saliyalapura Temple.

Nuwan was our driver throught the Cultural triangle. I was skeptical about what I would get back for the cost of the service. I don't regret at all. Nuwan was profesional, respectful, careful and friendly. I totally recommend hiring a driver in general and Nuwan in particular ✊????

An absolute adventure of a life time! My wife and Three kids with the Grand Parent along for the ride had a magnificent time exploring Sri Lanka with Fernando as our guide. This man is an absolute gentleman and an absolute first class guide. Very funny man who made our fantastic trip even better. Everything that you have ever seen on a brochure or travel show we experienced on this trip and then some other things that only a true local guide can show you.
