It’s a relatively short flight, there’s no time difference, and lodging is generally very affordable. River Island National Park in Banjul is fantastic for watching wildlife (especially the native baboons).

We had a fantastic stay at Lemonfish and wished we could have stayed longer than the two nights we spent there. Hannie and her staff made us feel welcome and "at home" from the start. They are so friendly, smiling and easy-going! The guesthouse is simple (2 shared bathrooms, 4 twin rooms) but clean and very quiet. The walls are covered with African art (batiks and paintings). The sandy garden is very agreeable, with trees, flowers and sunbeds for you to relax on. The food is delicious. Do you know someone who claims s/he doesn't like vegetables? Bring them to Hannie's and they will change their mind! We also appreciated the fact that there was fresh fruit for dessert. We also liked the location of the guesthouse: on the way to the bird reserve of Kartong, where you can see many different species of birds. We recommend Hannie's guesthouse whole-heartedly, and hope we can come back soon! Céline and Michel

Shop is well stocked and competativley priced. Has a wide range of items from cups to fridge magnets that were not available else where.
