Not just for retirees and theme park enthusiasts, the Sunshine State offers beautiful beaches, pristine diving conditions, and sizzling nightlife. Salsa the night away in a smokin’ hot Miami club, or swing away at one of Kissimmee’s many premium golf courses. An airboat tour of the Everglades is an unforgettable adventure – just look out for alligators! For the risk-averse, a lazy day spent on the soft sands of an Emerald Coast beach is as rejuvenating as a spa treatment.

John Ringling Causeway is an excellent way to get from St. Armands Circle to the Bayfront Sarasota, that'll take approximately 5 to 7 minutes driving. The causeway has a long history, going back to 1925 when it was first open, then to 1959 when it was rebuilt as a four-lane drawbridge, and since 2003 it's been a modern, high-span bridge, that handles heavy traffic on a daily basis. It is also a walking bridge, good for those who like to exercise and enjoy scenic views. And the views are really wonderful, even if it is just Sarasota Bay all around! ... I think, John Ringling Causeway is also a perfect way to get to downtown Sarasota, say from Lido Beach , via St Armands circle. Very convenient, very practical, very quick drive.

Just a short walk from the parking lot through the trees to the tower. We started at the smaller tower and walked across the bridge to the larger tower. Up, up, up to 75 feet. You look out over the landscape and are above the tree line.

Our cruise ship sailed underneath the bridge at night, and it was all lit up red white and blue for Veterans Day... stunning!

This place is temporarily closed, and is being repaired by the Florida DOT. It is scheduled to reopen in 2021. In the Florida Keys, there is no name better known than Henry Flagler who built the world-famous Oversea Railway in the early 1900's. Called the "8th Wonder of the World", this amazing ribbon of steel and concrete forever changed the history of the Florida Keys.
Unfortunately the old bridge was not open on the Marathon end during our most recent vacation but it the perfect morning walk spot. It is one of my favorite spots in the keys that is out of the water.

Parking. A route as long or short as you want. Water views the entire distance. And... Bathrooms. Perfect for a runner, walker, families, solo. Only downside is some bicycles are on the walking path. There is a designated bicycle path so I don’t think they are following the rules. A bonus - saw manatees! Also lots of great beaches and Sea World, Vizcaya are close.

The MacArthur causeway bridge connects Miami and Miami Beach. It's a fastest way to reach either of them - crossing it many times I've never saw traffic jams on it. Beside that, of tourist interest are views while driving it. When heading to Miami Beach on your right side is the Dodge island where's the port of Miami. If it's a sailing day you'll see 5,6 mega cruisers docked there, what is an outstanding scene. When driving to Miami you'll be rewarded with terrific Miami skyline panorama, as well the rich houses islands of Palm, Star and Hibiscus on your right. The bridge is toll free.
