Things to do in Florida, United States: The Best Beach & Pool Clubs

December 25, 2021 Joeann Galban

Not just for retirees and theme park enthusiasts, the Sunshine State offers beautiful beaches, pristine diving conditions, and sizzling nightlife. Salsa the night away in a smokin’ hot Miami club, or swing away at one of Kissimmee’s many premium golf courses. An airboat tour of the Everglades is an unforgettable adventure – just look out for alligators! For the risk-averse, a lazy day spent on the soft sands of an Emerald Coast beach is as rejuvenating as a spa treatment.

The beaches in PCB are the best, soft white sand, crystal clear water, an abundance of wildlife( My wife had a sea turtle swim right past her feet while walking in the surf! How cool? Lots to do and not the prices of the more southern spots. We go every fall when it is not crowded and the prices have dropped. Plus we live in Indiana and we can make the drive in 12 hours!

Pelican Cove Resort

Great resort, a lil gem hidden in Islamorada. We stayed at room 314 for 5 days which i think got the best view in all the rooms. Its a baby resort compared to its sister hotel Postcard Inn next door. This in a way worked for my family of 4 with a 3 and 8 y/o as there is not as much people, vey quiet and the employees are very warm and accommodating, ALL of them from the receptionist, to housekeeping, bar and the watersports. The pool is small but very much sufficient, the lil beach area is great, the groundskeeper cleans up the sea weeds every morning. There are beach toys as well as pool toys everywhere. There's also a giant chess board, tic tac toe and table tennisto play with. Plenty of chairs and shade..Bar is open til a out 9 to 10pm. Included in the $35 resort fee are paddleboards, single and double kayaks, towels, water trampoline and bicycles.. there are no waves so trying these water sports for a non swimmer like me wasn't so bad at all. The continental breakfast doesnt have that many selection, but otherwise sufficient. Being able to use amenities on sister resorts postcard, amara cay and la siesta is a bonus, if you want variety. We did go to postcard and my husband found a good snorkel area there. Even the television had more channels to choose from, than what i was used to in a hotel. The room is on the smaller side but doable, as we were almost always out anyways. Just wished the fridge was a lil bigger, great to have a microwave and keurig tho...view is magnificent. We paid for ocenfront and that's more than likely why i felt we got one of the middle rooms.. ALL rooms have an ocean view in a way, so if budget is tight, it's okay to not get the oceanfront. Food at the resort is what you expect in a resort, not cheap. Good portions tho, so may be shared if you're not a big eater, otherwise, publix, subway, burger king, and restaurants like ciao hound, seafood buffet, wahoo's are close by... Maybe my only complaint was that we waited about 30 minutes from check in (got the at about 4:30 pm) as our room wasn't clean yet. No biggie as we drove, so we just parked the car and explored the beach while waiting. Daily housekeeping usually gets to our room after lunch around 2 to 5 pm so im guessing they always do start late here or maybe there's only 2 of them working there are only 3 stories so it's not like there's a lot of rooms to clean. Fishing like a local hosted by Abel's bait store next door is really fun.

Already established as the premier nightlife destination in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Hyde Lounge's energy takes over the sand with the debut of its first day and nightlife oceanfront location - Hyde Beach. With more than 8,000 square feet of pool, beach and indoor-outdoor space, Hyde Beach offers artful mixology and Jose Andres cuisine.

Stop Hiding and start Hydeing! This place is heaven after what we've gone through with this pandemic. I was skeptical about going out at first but my servers and the staff made it comfortable. We reserved a cabana to celebrate my sister's bday and it was EPIC!!!! Even though it was a little hot, drinks were always fresh, refilled, and the vibe was beyond what I expected from these times. Danielle especially was respectful of my preference and both her and Rene went out of the way in every aspect, like coming through with some hand wipes etc. Although I understand the Miami crowd may be liberal with their entertainment, it was a breath of fresh air (no pun intended) to be able to enjoy Miami again while feeling reasonably safe. Hospitality life is back again.

Fort Myers Beach Community Pool

Rated a "top 10" pool in the country by USA Today, the Fort Myers Beach town pool is a great place to go for lap swimming, a kiddie pool, or just hanging in and around the water. Incredibly inexpensive at $4 for adults and less for kids, its a nice relief from the beach.
