A beautiful village to wander around and admire the traditional architecture of the buildings and smile and chat with the local ladies and see the exquisite weaving that they produce by hand. You can purchase these as well from the local ladies. Very laid back and peaceful. Thanks to my guide Elvis +6285238587238 who gave me a great explanation and history lesson of the village and it’s people. Well worth the visit if you are staying in Bajawa.

Renting a motorbike at the tourist information in Bajawa, we got to know William who told us about Belaraghi Village and the trek. It did sound like a great thing to do so we booked the tour with him for the next day! During the walk to the village we got to learn a lot about the local plants, saw cacao, coffee, chilli, ginger, papaya, vanilla, banana, ...and many more. Arriving to the village, we were introduced to the family that we were to stay with. After that there was tea and coffee. Later we we being introduced to the ancestors of the family by way of chicken sacrifice. Very interesting to watch and learn. The next day William took us around the village again to explain about the different houses and symbols. We felt this your was great value for money. William is a great guide. We felt he has a very good connection to the villagers and is genuinely interested in helping them preserve their traditional way of life. If you're in Ende and going to Kelimutu, worth the stop here to check it out a few hours. I also met Max when i went there so that way i had some guide. Just contact him by whatsapp or call (whatsapp is above in some other review). Turned out to be him the chief of this ANCIENT village were people still live in! Not many tho, the village is pretty empty but there are still people around living in those houses. Max will tell you incredible stories of the places and the chiefs before him, even the ancient chiefs and what was it all about. Pure history. He also gave me the best coffee i ever had, just straight from behind his house (he lives next to the village), he showed me some family living in those houses and i got to meet some people there. He told me so many stories of the place and being there in a ancient village was very... I dont know... special I guess. It was totally worth the few hour stop. The guy was so nice he even took me (after we prayed for rain to come as it was very dry) all the way to kelimutu!!! Wow....... And stopped in many places in the way to take photos. Amazing. You should stop and visit. No fees are asked for but I really suggest giving a donation. The effort put on this ancient place is big and we should collaborate after we enjoy visiting it. Hope it helps. Cheers.
