Florence is an art historian’s dream. The Galleria dell'Accademia bursts with works by Michelangelo, who is entombed within the frescoed walls of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Budding photographers can snap pics of the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and serious shoppers can spend a blissful afternoon wandering the shops of Piazza Santo Spirito. Tuscan cuisine pays homage to the region’s bounty. Swipe a hunk of crusty bread across a pool of local olive oil and you’ll be instantly transported to your happiest place.

The school, the oldest state recognized school of foreign languages in Florence, can be found in Palazzo Guadagni, a Renaissance palace dating from the 16th century which is located in the middle of the old town centre near the Ponte Vecchio. The historic school building, renovated in 1992, has eleven classrooms, a multimedia learning centre, a lecture room and a student lounge and is in a quaint Italian quarter. The school is in the centre of the oldest part of Florence, 300 m from the Pitti Palace, 500 m from the Ponte Vecchio and about 15 minutes' walk from the cathedral (il Duomo) and from the railway station. The building is the work of the architect Cronaca and was built between 1502 and 1508. In the 1860's, it was extensively improved by the architect Poggi with the addition of beautiful frescoes. The school was completely renovated, taking care to enhance the original features but also making use of the best of modern Italian design to produce a stunning mix of new and old.

The Florence Art Studio renews the tradition of working in a private working studio (bottega d'arte). We offer academic training customized to meet each student's goals and circumstances. This intensive training provides a disciplined study of the fundamentals of drawing and painting from life. The Florence Art Studio is an official affiliate of The British Institute of Florence.
What a great experience to spend a month at the FAS. Gary and his team were so giving with their knowledge and expertise. The tuition was intense and at times, it was a bit like drawing bootcamp but I wouldn't change that at all. I would not have thought that it was possible to improve my drawing and 'seeing' skills in such a short time. Such a beautiful, well organised and centrally located studio, I challenge anyone not to improve their artistic skill set. Will definately be back.

Visit an art studio in a beautiful palazzo in the centre of Florence for a short introductory 3 hour class in traditional painting or sculpting or book a longer period of study of 3, 5 or 10 mornings or afternoons for a more intensive holiday workshop. We offer flexible scheduling for beginners to advanced artists... all are welcome, ages 12-100. Your instructors, Frank Rekrut and Laura Thompson, are classically trained artists.
I was in Florence with my husband for a conference. I saw this 3 hour painting session and thought i would give it a try. I haven't painted for a long time and wanted to get back into it. As soon as Frank met me at the door and Laura welcomed me while she finished the class before mine, I was hooked. It felt like home, they are an amazing couple artistically and personally. I learned so much and plan to go back in the future.

From the age of 16 until now, I have tried to pursue the love for taste, tradition, and humility in learning the art of cooking. This art is infinitely large and full of constant changes, beautiful scents, vibrant colors, and unconditional love that I have never imagined… I have put all my passion in choosing the best organic products, DOP, fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish of the best quality. I make sure to touch and smell the ingredients, as well as make everyone else appreciate the scents and aromas of every ingredient possible… I could be here writing endless pages of reasons to explain why I have opened this school, Chefactory – The Taste Workshop, but the reason why I opened the doors is just one. I wish to transmit you to the love of resuming our roots, traditions, history, and life in the art of Tuscan cuisine. The lessons can be taught in: “French-English-Spanish-German-Portuguese-Romanian-Italian”
The whole experience was amazing and chef Franscesco was incredible. So many useful tips and such a great personality. Would definitely recommend this for anyone wanted to learn how to cook Italian meals and about how food is made!
