Created by Goolwa artist James Stewart. More than artistry at work here. Worth the ride/drive to Strathalbyn. Stroll down High street for great coffee, view the memorial and visit the Motoring Museum.

Erected in 1921 to honour their war dead this beautiful memorial sits in the well maintained park and is a fitting tribute to their service. The Remember the Anzacs flower hedge is a lovely touch, a very peaceful place to reflect.

The cenotaph is a rather unassuming memorial with inscribed plaques recording the names of people from the district who served during World Wars I and II and subsequent conflicts. The Cross of Sacrifice stands nearby, also the replica Long Tan Cross. Paved area surrounding and the mature Norfolk Island pines encompassing all. The area is known as Soldier Memorial Gardens, established in 1917 with the planting of 22 pines to honour the 21 locals that died plus the Unknown Soldier. There is a sign showing the garden features C.1924. Bench seating and nice views should you wish to sit and reflect.
