Not only was Raptor World accommodating in allowing me to change my visit last minute they even waited 25min for me to start the Raptor Experience since I was running late. The flight with the Harris Hawk, Barn owl and Tawny owl are something that will forever be the highlight of my trip to Scotland! We had plenty of time with the birds and the whole experience will be remembered and videos viewed over and over for years to come!!! Will definitely bring the family if I am every in Scotland again without a shadow of a doubt!!

We visited the castle gardens for a pumpkin hunt during the covid pandemic. What a gorgeous place, the chapel and castle are stunning buildings and I look forward to visiting again when you can get tours inside. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained with lots of different areas to explore. I’m sure it will be even more stunning in full bloom in the Spring/Summer. The free pumpkin hunt (donations welcome) was very well done and was enjoyed by my 10 year old son and myself. What a great way to encourage visitors during the school holidays when very little things are available. Will definitely be back.

Lomond Hills Regional Park

Great place for a bit of hiking. Apart from the usual nature and forests, interesting things to see inside the park include Tyndall-Bruce Monument, Bonnet Stone and Maidens Cave. It had rained for a few days when I visited and the tracks do get muddy, so be aware of that and wear walking boots or wellies if necessary.

Balmule Fishery

Family run fishery on the outskirts of Dunfermline. Well stocked with Rainbow, Blue and Brown trout up to double figures. Family friendly with a lodge selling snacks and tackle. Suitable for anglers of all levels - perfect for beginners with help on hand to get you started.

Went here in April 2021. Me and my two kids who are 12 and 9 years old. We hired rods and staff were very helpful and friendly even when my son got his line tangled in the reel. All we caught was a very small fish but my kids were pleased with that. The site has toilets which can be accessed despite Covid restrictions. There’s also chickens on site that kids will like and I noticed a food van when I was there which I assume is open once Covid restrictions are lifted. As for cost then we were around £22 for all three of us including rod hire and bait. That covered us for 2 hours which was plenty. To the staff that work there - thank you for all your help! You really make the experience great so keep up the good work! Will definitely be going back.

We decided to visit the Scottish Deer Centre on a bit of a whim, as we'd previously seen signposts for it. I wasn't expecting much, and didn't really expect that our older kids (aged 10 and 12) would be overly interested. However, we had a really good morning! We bought a bag of feed for the kids to feed to the deer, and were pleasantly surprised that even our germ-phobic 12 year old was happy to feed the deer, having seen that hand washing facilities were available. In fact, she said that she'd had one of her best days ever! The animals are plentiful and seem well looked after, and there was enough to occupy us for a good couple of hours. We somehow missed the demonstrations, but would definitely come back to visit and make sure we went to those. A particular favourite were the otters, who ran over and kept us entertained for quite a while! All in all, a great morning out!
