Always make a point of visiting both the fish and vegetable markets in Olhão when on holiday. Totally fascinating places...especially the fish market...where every conceivable fish is on offer. Just wonderful to see all these gleaming fish and the number of people in to purchase. What choices they have. Everything is very clean and certainly worth a visit. Outside of both markets are traders selling fresh fruit, vegetables and other delights....including budgies and canaries. Definitely worth a visit.

A visit to the Viv'o Mercado open air organic market and food court is a must. There will be local organic produce, bread (gluten free as well), artisanal beer, fresh juice, smoothies, falafel, the best nachos in the western algarve, local entertainment. No tourist prices here. Just go, you will go back, I promise.
