The walk through the tunnel is very interesting. There is a free car park nearby. It can be damp so recommend you take a waterproof jacket. There is lighting. Beware of cyclists. If a barge is travelling through the tunnel, even more interesting. At the Edinburgh end of the tunnel, keep walking to the laughing and greeting bridge.
