The Hasht Behesht Palace is situated in the middle of the long side of Isfahan’s huge ‘square’ and as you climb up to the top so the view becomes better from the balconies. There was a royal music room on the top floor for entertaining which has an amazing ceiling of niches. You will have a much better experience if you book a knowledgeable tourguide who can take you to the best restaurants, coffee shops and souvenir shops to save time in queues and knowing where the best quality for prices are for things like saffron, jewellry, enamelwork, engraving and carpets. We were recommended experienced freelance tourleader, Iraj Honarjou, who made our tour of Persia so much fun as well as memorable. See @ihtourleader on instagram; [email protected]. Iraj also took super photos for us such as this selfie from the palace.

The Armenia Quarter seems to be the most relaxed and relaxing part of Isfahan - lots of coffee shops, restaurants. In this square we saw lads playing football, teenage girls walking together to see and be seen - just a wonderfully happy atmosphere

A stunning square surrounded on all sides by under cover bazaars that are a shoppers delight selling everything from trinkets to real works of art and of course, Persian carpets. A great meeting place for people (particularly families) both during the day and especially at night. This was probably my most favourite place in all of Iran as there was a great vibe about the place.
