Ercolano [erkoˈlaːno] is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina - read Resìna - was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 CE) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. Ercolano is a resort and the starting point for excursions to the excavations of Herculaneum and for the ascent of Vesuvius by bus. The town also manufactures leather goods, buttons, glass, and the wine known as Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ).

Pretty famous at the time, as historians have preserved into their reports, the small city of Herculaneum, settled at the Volcano Vesuvius slopes, had been buried during the Vulcanic burst dated 79 A.C. Despite the centuries and the new urban settlements, 2000 years after that awful disaster you have the chance to move around the city and walk on the original stoned pavements. The private guide will show you the highlights of the Roman city while listening in details to our ancestors’ customs and traditions. Among the must see of the site, your will visit the "Palestra" (gym) and the houses whose walls are decorated with spectacular frescoes such as Casa di Nettuno e Anfritrite, Casa dello Scheletro, Casa dell'Alcova e Casa del salone nero. Skip the line and join our guides in this amazing 2.5 hours private walk into one of the most famous archaeological sites of the Campania region.

Our tour was from a cruise ship and was fabulous. Early in the day and without crowds as you would find at Pompeii. It was a resort village, populated with only a few slaves and caretakers when hit by a pyroclastic flow that covered the town to a depth of six meters, preserving it. Wonderful mosaics, frescoes and statues. Photographers will enjoy the subjects of buildings, streets, art, and houses. Do not suggest a tripod, my DSLR with a zoom lens was all I needed. Some rooms are dark, so anticipate using a high ISO. Take shots from the rim above before walking through the tunnel to be in the village. Then you will use the wide-angle a lot.

Andrea has been an amazing guide for our visit to Pompeii. We had tickets for 10am and the tour was scheduled to start at 11am. Andrea went out of his way to accommodate us by arranging with the other members of the group to also be there for 10am and check which parking spot and entry would work with our tickets. I appreciated his deep knowledge and relaxed, engaging style. He brought Pompeii to life. It felt more like visiting Pompeii with a good friend who is an expert. Fantastic experience. Thank you!

The tour guide will accompany you on a thrilling adventure around Pompeii, showing the characteristic features of the city such as the ‘Teatro Grande’ and the ‘Teatro Piccolo’, where you can hear the acoustic perfection of the auditorium – a feat which was achieved over two-thousand years ago; as well as a stroll down the principal street of commerce, a visit to the ‘pleasure domes’ and much more, before making the final stop at the main square (the Forum) – the focus of life in any Roman settlement. There were 4 of us and we were very comfortable in the people carrier It took around an hour to reach central Rome during which Max gave us a great commentary of the areas we were passing. Max has a route but will take you wherever you would like to go he will find a parking space and give you all the time you need to take photographs etc. Max is extremely knowledgeable about all the attractions and can give you as much information as you would want. I would recommend Max to anyone wanting to see Rome he is very friendly and speaks very good English Very easy to contact by Email he requested a small deposit which is understandable I am looking forward to meeting him again

Be guided by an Archaeologist to discover the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum destroyed by the 79 AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Herculaneum was the best holiday destination for the Roman aristocracy, a small chest full of miracles as Romans stated. In its private residences and public buildings were found marble decorations, wall paintings, mosaic floors as well as objects implemented in the everyday life. Also called 'the sister of Pompeii', this city shows you some better preserved findings like wooden doors and exquisite paintings. With an Archaeologist leading you through the site sharing his knowledge and telling you interesting anecdotes, you'll get the feeling to be walking in a still living town!
Inclusions: Guidance and assistance by an Archaeologist guide, Private Tour
Exclusions: Herculaneum Entrance Ticket, Transportation, Food and drinks
Luciano gave us a fantastic tour of Herculaneum. He showed us lots of interesting details of the buildings and the lives of the people. He is very passionate about learning about what happened before and after the eruption of vesuvius and sharing that knowledge with great enthusiasm. A great experience, highly recommended to history enthusiasts.

A marvellous archaeological walk at the disover of the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum buried from the ashes of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 a. D. With this tour you’ll discover the most of the towns’ highlights starting from Pompeii. The guide, a licensed expert Archaeologist, will meet you at the main entrance and will show you the best highlights like the Forum – the main square of the city – the main houses and buildings, and also the plaster casts – the dead bodies of the Pompeiians emerged by the excavations. At the end of this visit, have a quick break then move to Herculaneum where your journey back to the past will start over again. Herculaneum is smaller than Pompeii but better preserved: you’ll see findings like wooden doors and exquisite paintings and you’ll visit the beach, where more than 300 skeletons were found!
Inclusions: Guidance and assistance by an Archaeologist guide, Guaranteed to skip the long lines, Private Tour
