The Steamship Shieldhall is the largest working steam ship in Britain. A member of the National Historic Fleet she serves as a sea going tribute to Britain's maritime heritage. As a passenger you too can experience the golden age of steam by booking on an excursion or visiting her in Southampton.
The 2 of us enjoyed a fantastic time onboard the Shieldhall thanks to its amazing team of knowledgeable and friendly volunteers working in the engine room, on the bridge, at the shop/restaurant, on deck including a commentator on all landmarks we passed . They made a huge impression on my son who is a typical 'teen'. The vessel is very stable and I did not feel seasick, nor did I see the 3 hours pass by as we spent our time visiting the engine room as well as the bridge and every other part of the ship. We had a fab time! Suitable for e very age group.

The Black Pearl is an interactive artwork to be enjoyed by all age groups it has been created and maintained by a small group of pasionate pirates. Allow your imagination to soar or just absorb the work and detail in the carefully selected driftwood and ships ropes. There are many sculptures and carvings to be found on and around the ship . If your lucky you may even find treasure in her treasure chest. The golden sands surrounding The Pearl are cleaned every day and perfect for the children to play on. The area of Cosy Cove is loved and treasured by the local community who always keep a close eye on her. Pirates At Art
Fantastic focal point for the local community... Sadly the river has reclaimed The Black Pearl once More. She will be rebuilt!!!

I came across this on a brief visit to Lowestoft. My regret is that I did not have more time as it is a really interesting museum. It is quite an eye opener to see and appreciate the living conditions on board a traditional trawler. The volunteers are ethusiastic and informative and though it is free a donation is welcomed to maintain this fascinating attraction.

The orginal pirate radio station, Radio Caroline is still broadcasting today, 24/7, on 648AM (East and South East of England), DAB, on mobiles and around the world online at radiocaroline.co.uk Most programming from land-based studios and one weekend a month Radio Caroline North broadcasts live from the studios on board our radio ship Ross Revenge, which is moored on the River Blackwater in Essex. Trips and tours by DJs all year round inc during live broadcasts. Meet the crew and visit studios, vinyl library, mess room, galley, engine room, transmitters and generator room, decks, wheelhouse, chart room, newsroom and more.
A brilliant trip to hear and see memories of Radio Caroline and pirate radio, an important part of our youth. Shown around by DJ Barry, all with masks and social distancing. Saw and heard the DJ on air from the on board studio. Also interesting to hear the story of the Ross Revenge, previously a cod fishing trawler and fascinating if you like looking at ships engines, generators etc as I do. You have to be quite agile to get on and off the tender boat from West Mersea and to climb up and down ladders!

London’s warship experience. Climb on board and explore all 9 decks. Permanently moored on the Thames.
Well worth a visit if your in the area, fascinating to actually step onboard a war ship you can practically walk round the whole ship, very interesting facts to be learned.

Visit this living-history museum and find out what it was like to sail the mighty seas aboard an Elizabethan galleon during the adventurous days of the 16th century.
Walking past this famous replica of Francis Drake’s ship, and pausing to read an information board, a total stranger enthusiastically encouraged us to go onboard as she found it fascinating. The entrance fee was just £5 per adult. Is this the best visitor attraction at that price we wonder? We are so pleased we followed her advice- we very much enjoyed our tour of the ship. The talks given by their excellent staff were so interesting and very informative. Highly recommended.

Had my first visit to the Cutty Sark a few weekends ago - how have I not been here before? The interpretation was pitched just right for me - enough information to give a good grounding and flavour but not too much so it became a chore to read. I loved the design of the level with all the tea chests and boxes which gave a great atmosphere. Another highlight was the top deck - who doesn't like to pretend to be captain! What made the visit were the incredibly helpful and friendly front of house staff who made us initially feel really welcome and then went above and beyond to get the penny press machine fixed so that we could use it. I'll definitley be back when I have to entertain people visiting me in London.
