Situated on top of some ancient Inca ruins, this cathedral was built in 1557 when modern Cuenca was founded.
There you can see beautiful pieces of art and learn about Cuenca's history and the history about catholic religion coming to South America. I recommend to listen the recording about the place.

Ingapirca or “Wall of the Inca” is one of the most important ruin complexes in Ecuador, which many archaeologists theorize was once used for religious purposes.
High in la sierra, this is a beautiful historical site with gorgeous views of the mountains. Local crafts people sell their wares nearby. You can have quinoa soup and seco de pollo for lunch on site. I loved this site and the history I learned here.

So picturesque we took tons of photos. It’s charming and contains an art gallery, French restaurant and tourist info to boot!

The train excursion from Ibarra to Salinas is an amazing experience. You travel through an amazing canyon, across bridges, and through tunnels. The Ibarra station is a nice stop, a place to buy drinks and snacks on the way. Ibarra is a bit rougher than Otavalo, but it's fine walking around the station. I strongly recommend the train ride to anyone visiting the region!

Definitely one of the most spectacular cemetery I've ever seen. The attention to details, the peacefulness, and the location at the foothills of the mountain is just incredibly beautifully designed.
