I had never heard of the Bennerley Viaduct until I saw Tim Dunn's tv programme about railway architecture. After a google search I was able to find it. Driving along the A6096 from Ilkeston there is a turning on the left for the kennels. There is a very small area to park. If you walk along the river you can see the viaduct through the bushes. Walk a little further an the bushes have been cleared and there is an information plate giving some history about the viaduct. I look forward to coming back when you can travel across it.

On the Victoria Embankment you can walk past several bridges, my favourite is Wilford suspension, its a bridge that gets a lot of foot traffic from the meadows to West Bridgford and is also an aqueduct, the design is a little like a mini-Brooklyn bridge, classic.

I see this grade 1 listed triangular bridge most days. Go back a few hundred years and Crowland was an island in the Fens. This 14th century stone edifice has steep pedestrian only steps which once spanned the confluence of the Welland & a tributary. There are some ancient statues on the bridge, possibly taken from nearby Crowland Abbey (maybe c/o Henry VIII & Cromwell wrecking the monastery). The rivers have long been diverted & the bridge now straddles paving slabs. It is unique. Only a couple of other three way bridges exist in Europe. If you’re in South Lincolnshire then it’s definitely worth a visit & a trudge to the top. Don’t forget your camera!!

We live not far away and this was the first time we had visited. Beautiful place with lots of ducks and swans. We took the dogs and had a lovely walk. Really peaceful

Took a stroll down the canal path after a lovely meal at the Barley Mow, and if seeing the Cosgrove lock in full operation wasn't enough, we came across this impressive structure, a waterway crossing a waterway. First time I'd seen an aqueduct in real life and was pleasantly surprised.

On Boxing Day a great tradition when the firefighters show their hose skills at the bridge. On Spring and summer days it's warmer and calmer, and a lovely tranquil place to picnic with children
