Things to do in Dublin, Province of Leinster: The Best Nightlife

September 20, 2021 Milan Banda

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

Went to this night with some friends. There were a variety of different acts, both Irish and from overseas. The Mc was very lively and got the crowd going. There was a wonderful atmosphere and it was a great night. Would highly recommend it if you are in Dublin.

The Cauldron

Reviewed By UnreliableUnseelie - Dublin, Ireland

The Cauldron is a little hidden gem in the heart of Dublin that will bring out your inner child to play. You may want book a spot in advance, and depending on your group size you may have to share a table. I went with two friends and we shared our table with another group of three who, thankfully, were being just as silly as us. Our group got a magic wand, a cauldron + ingredients + instructions, and a robe for each of us. In the beginning you can choose between three different welcome drinks, and then you get to mix your own cocktails or mocktails. Afterwards you're welcome to order more cocktails if you still haven't had enough, and there is also a little shop where you can buy your own wand or a t-shirt. The Cauldron is lovingly decorated, had very friendly staff, and the atmosphere is just magical and fun - we saw a lot of the other patrons pose for pictures too or heard them cracking Harry Potter jokes.

The Palace

Reviewed By BusterMum - Leeds, United Kingdom

We went to The Palace to see a favourite musician as part of Tradfest 2020. We nearly walked past as it was so small and if not for Tradfest we would have probably not noticed the bar. The bar was so full of character and history, staff were friendly and welcoming. The back room where the musician was performing was amazing. The high glass ceiling was fabulous and the pictures all around the walls were fascinating. We had a great afternoon of brilliant music in such fantastic surroundings - it couldn’t get much better!! We will definitely be returning to The Palace next time we are in Dublin ( even if our favourite musician is not there) as it is such a great little place - thank you all.

Peadar Kearney's

Peadar Kearney’s on Dame street is a traditional pub with strong historic roots. The pub is named after a musician who composed Abhrán na BhFiann (The Irish national anthem). We continue this tradition with nightly traditional, toe tapping music. One of the regular musicians, Brian Brody, is a must see for any tourist visiting the city. He’s a one man atmosphere machine. There’s a basement bar downstairs when upstairs overflows, which also caters to most sporting events. If you’re looking for somewhere with temple bar music and atmosphere without the prices, take a look at Peadar’s.

We came across Peadar Kearney’s when we were looking for a place to have a few drinks after dinner and we are so happy we found it! We happened to start chatting with some locals who obviously come to Peadars often. We became instant family and ended up staying out way later than planned as we were having such a good time and came back the next day to see our new friends before we flew out the next day. Barman Karl taught me how to properly pour a Guinness and I had first hand experience behind the bar for a short while. This bar is perfect if you want to experience the wonderful generosity and friendliness of Ireland and have a good drink while you’re at it! We miss you all!!
