Things to do in Dublin, Province of Leinster: The Best Beaches

October 2, 2021 Emerita Lamoureux

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

Dollymount Strand

Bull Island, or North Bull Island is home to Dollymount strand and acres of dunes, rich in flora and fauna. Interesting wooden bridge, hip outdoor Café ( "Happy Out"), a resident seal population (at the Sutton end), swooping birds and delicate flowers that leave you in awe at how they can survive the sometimes-strong sea breezes. Unwind for free! Our family love it!

Seapoint Beach

Sunday 12th January and we visited popular all year swimming venue. It is located on east coast of the Ireland, outside Dublin City between Blackrock and Dun Loaghaire. All thought it was a dry day and there were blue skies it was a bitterly cold day and yet there were a number of people taking to the water. This was a real trip down memory lane as I used to swim here as a youngster which was over 40 years ago and this was the first return visit since then. Nothing appears to have changed since I was here last. The Martello Tower was still standing by the headland, with an old cannon on it's roof. The 2 slipways, which we swam to and from, were still in place and used by bathers. There was a real panoramic view of Dublin Bay, stretching from Dun Loaghaire to Hoath and along to Sandymount and Ringsend. It was also possible to see the Aviva Stadium in the distance.
